Default A kinematic lever saga

I recently decided to have the pedal cluster on my '95 rebuilt with new parts, including bushings, spring, the kinematic lever, etc. Knowing there are potential issues with the indexing of the levers, we went ahead and ordered the most current part number, 993-423-519-03.

The splines on the new part appeared to be indexed two notches clockwise from the original part. We put things together to compare, and the clutch pedal was clearly way too low relative to the brake pedal.

We then ordered another new part, and found this one to be indexed one notch counterclockwise from the original! Isn't there some old expression about a man with two watches never knowing what time it is...

Having no clear idea at this point what is correct, the original part is currently back in place. Everything feels great otherwise, so this may be the way things stay.

Any thoughts?

Subscribed.

I'm going to do this next month and don't want to have to go through the same dance you and several others have to get the correct part.

You have the right part number. Here is DIY with pictures:

I had a full pedal box rebuild and kinematic lever replacement done recently and I got the correctly indexed part. Not return of clutch fixed 100%. Car is still has a very stiff shift but the PO installed a WEVO shift linkage and potentially a short shift kit. I'm going back to a more stock setup as the notchiness robs the car of the smoothness of other 993's I have driven.

How long did the project take you, or if you paid a shop what did they charge? I am trying to gauge how big of an undertaking this is!

I didn't do it myself. It cost about $500 to get the assembly rebuilt with all new springs, bushings, clips and the kinematic lever.
