Alternator Pulley
what direction does the nut unscrew? I have the Porsche tool holding shaft tight with my right hand and trying to push 24mm wrench counter clockwise (towards drivers side) with my left. Wrench is not super long so not as much leverage. I have sprayed PB blaster for two days a couple times a day. Just making sure I am going the right way, Thanks

Correct, counter clockwise. What I have done is get the alternator facing you about chest height. (You may have to get on your knees if the car is on the ground) Hold the Porsche tool in your right hand and the 24mm wrench in your left hand maybe an inch apart from each other and then spread them apart, like your spreading your elbows outward. Like you're tearing a phonebook apart.

KNS thank you! I went out and bought a small butane torch. Sprayed WD40 blue torch version and wiped it down. Then used torch for about 20 seconds. Then hit it with WD40 blue torch to cool it off. Did that twice and it finally broke loose. I then disassembled and replaced both belts with Porsche brand. I even lined then up so Porsche logos were sync'd. Plan to do the AC belt tomorrow.

Well I tried...lol. Now that you say that the sizes are different so you are indeed correct. I just bought it so be nice. It's my first air cooled 911. Either way all new belts are on. I am waiting for new axel bolts and clamps. Doing both rear axels since I had two cv boots ripped. Messy job!

While you have the wheels off , it may be a good time to replace the wheel theft deterrent nuts with plain ones they fail easily and can then leave you stranded at the side of the road with a flat tire and unable to change it.
