993 restoration/build thread
Hey guys, I wanted to document the restoration of a special to me car and couldn't think of a better way than to share it with fellow 993 enthusiasts by creating this thread.
I made a chassis dolly out of 2x8's that I hope should serve me well until it's ready for the engine/trans.
That's pretty much all for now. Next plan of action is to build a rotisserie to prepare for RS style seam welding and undercoat.

Very clean slate to start with for a resto and nice cart (you even took the time to stain it!). There is alot of work into just stripping the car down to that point..so many systems on 993's vs the older cars.
Enjoy the slippery slope.

Thanks guys, I bought the car years ago to build out as a track focused RS clubsport clone. My plans since then have morphed into a spirited street machine. I have always loved the feel of a light weight simple 993 with firm suspension.
The goal is to reproduce the raw RS feel starting with seam welding and suspension; while also maintaining the original appearance other than color.
Color has been and will continue to be the hardest part.
I have been through,,
Continental orange
Slate grey
Maritime blue
Speed yellow
Etna blue
Seal gray
Guards red
Riviera blue
The sunroof delete was going to happen, In fact I threw my sunroof away only to recently replace it with one from a fellow Rennlister.
I have been down the slippery slope with my 4S; im pretty sure I put Gerts kids through college on that one. I want this car to be the complete opposite of that car. I really put a lot of focus on how that car looked, this ones focus will be based on feel.
My former 993, which will be nothing like this build. I would like more trashy, less flashy for this one.

This should be fun to watch!
I can't wait to find out what a nicely done trashy 993 looks like...

My 4S had 17,500 miles on it when I bought it and I enjoy driving and working on these cars.
this one is a much better fit for me. My favorite 911 from the past was a 83 that was far from perfect but was fun to work on and drive in the rain. I'll see where it goes, but I see light and raw. Trashy is not the right word.
It's in black ppg epoxy primer with red guide coat and dust.
Thanks!

My vote is for Slate or Fashion Grey.
