You're right... the bottom half of the photo is the top half of the front of the car... and the top half of the photo is the top half of the back of the car (upside down).

The technique looked familiar and checking the shelves I found it: cover of Christophers 352, Oct-Nov 2011, "Our Identity", for the introduction of the 991.
