I like the 992... it looks less like a toad.

having seen them on the road here in LA I can tell you the exterior looks great in person (even with some camo) and most of the haters will come around. Interior I’m a bit more worried about but I’m hopeful that with the right options it’ll be a step up as well. I can’t wait.

Any Rennlisters able to translate this Auto Bild video into English (or at least some of it)?

Seems to be the most comprehensive review so far.

Seems to be the most comprehensive review so far.
Some things mentioned in the video:
* reveal in LA in November
* up to 20/21" wheels (more comfortable yet more dynamic)
* 8-speed PDK
* all models with particulate filter
* design stresses out horizontal lines
* wheels wider by 1"
* 40mm wider track
* 3.0 twin-turbo
* 385 PS and 450 PS
* acceleration of S on the level of current GTS
* magnetic-injectors replaced by piezo-injectors (60%-70% better, helps with emissions when the engine is not warmed up or when it's under partial load)

Just seen an article in this month’s ‘Car’ magazine, also by respected motoring journalist Georg Kacher, where he again states that the base Carrera 992 will have 18”s at the front and 19”s at the rear as standard.

The side markers finally look right-side up, and the shape is echoed in the door handles. Nice design. Always hated how the bumper seam was forced up into the headlights on the 991, and continues to be awkward between headlights and frunk lid. The 992 is simplicity here, regardless of previous 911 designs...of which you can see some long hood, some G-model/964, and some 993 if you think about it. In comparison the 991's creases on top of the bumpers are pointless, trying to provide something visually in the empty space between the frunk lid and front of the car, whereas the 992 brings the frunk lid forward so the long nose makes more sense visually (that said, I haven't liked the long front overhang on any water-cooled models). Wider front track looks great and will improve handling. The frunk lid creases are a bit retro, but they work IMO...makes the wide, flat lid on the 991 look bland.

I do think the intakes and side view mirrors are a bit too square for such a rounded design, but not enough to bother me.
Here's my biggest problem with this car (aside from the Kardashian butt). Look at the 991 and the 992 side by side. Look at the hood. Notice that the hood doesn't start sloping from the cowl. It comes forward more horizontally and then changes angle and drops. Whereas the 991's hood smoothly slopes to the front. To me, the 992's hood makes the car look front engined.

It really does.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see it in the flesh. But to me, the front end looks too much like a Panamera in that regard, and less like a 911.

The "Porsche.tagram" instagram channel posted a "leaked photo" of the 992. Dunno whether real or not but looks very, very close to all the spy pictures & renders:

Stop it! I am trying to hate the 992 and this isn't helping.

Still can't imagine what they'll do with that third brake light?? Seems like will stick out like a sore thumb.

Interesting. I had assumed that Piezoelectric injectors were part-and-parcel of all DFI engines and that Porsche, like other makers, was ‘already’ using them.

Looking back, 991 is such a design wonder.

Not that bigger than 997 but they increased wheelbase to make it look have more sportscar stance than <997 cars' beetle stance.

The BMW N54 was using Piezoinjectors in 2006. Admittedly they were horrifically unreliable at first.
