That picture also demonstrates how much better the front bumper integration is on the 991.
The 992 bumper looks tacked onto the front of the car and is “ capping “ the nose. The 991 flows so much better in that regard by rising up around the hood and headlights. It makes the bumper cover appear far less obvious.
That 992 straight hood , as cool and retro as it may be just simply doesn’t work well with these modern body cars and I far prefer the rounded hood look in the 991 because it just simply works better with the shape.
It almost seems like Porsche can't decide which way to go with the design of the 992. It harkens back to the past with the squared off hood (similar to the 993) but it is going with a more "modern" (I would call it Tesla-Y) look with the big rear with the big spoiler and big rear tail light, the flush door handles, the oblong side view mirrors, etc. The 991 is a much more uniform design, to my eyes, anyway.

Bring back some traditional classic 911 elements, but we can't get any smoother so go boxy like Audi and VW. Bring in those millennial designers who don't have a drivers license in. Those VW SUV's look terrible. Box on wheels.

If Porsche wants to charge almost 15% more for a bean counters delight, one size fits all model, and optional Alcantara headliner with BIG GULP and Stubby shifter dreams, have at it. Oh, forgot about "The Clam" >> (Archie's credit there) and the fake exhaust tips. Hope the Asian market buys it. I'm not.

Agreed. As others have said, it looks like the new Panamera. Or...do I mean the new Panamera looks like it? The stylization between those two models in particular has been homogenized. I thought it was a good thing making the Panamera look more streamlined, more 911 like. But I am dismayed that the opposite has happened, that the 911 is now looking more like a Panamera...if you catch my drift...
The 964 was boxy, and as much of a 911 as its predecessor.
The 964 was the worst looking 911 ever made and possibly the ugliest car Porsche has ever produced. The fact that Singer can turn those turds into works of art is one of the great wonders of the world.
