Unless I am missing something which is entirely possible.

You're right pretty much. Wheel gap is a spring height. I'm sure a 19" tires overall height is less than a 20"? Nothing that would make difference.

Point being, the wheel arches are fine. Even with a 21" tire, pretty close to same height as a 20" I'd think depending on profile height.

A
Front arches gap look a tiny bit tighter on the 991.2 with 20” front and back wheels. Might be the photo or my bad eyesight...

width of the rear fenders look very close as well, maybe it is the slightly larger proportions of the 992-
i think the wheelbase is the same as well.

Can't see this car having 18's...

The journalist in question may have got it wrong though.

The trend for years has been bigger wheels, so a 911 with 18” front wheels feels a little odd.

19” and 20” for the base Carrera sounds more likely, with huge numbers of buyers paying a premium to Porsche to upgrade to 20”/21”.

Ok. More like it. Thanks!

Still, 19's on front and 20's in rear will look odd.

Little Photoshop quicky comparing a 991.2 with 20" Turbo wheels to the (presumably) 992 C4S:

Yeah 18" is some weak ****, we want bona fide monster truck wheels! Even 21" isn't good, why not 25" or 30" or more. I really hope the 992.2 looks like this.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. It really helps to show the elegant designed of the 991. I love how the seam lines are gracefully integrated. I also like the hood of the 992, but the straight seams are a negative. The 992 rear I actually like, even though it lost it's 911 uniqueness. All-in-all, I want the 992 to be just a little bit better/cleaver than what they are showing us. I want it to be my next 911. I know technically it will be better, but aesthetically it's not doing it for me.

Arches will be the same in all models.

The base will just have bigger wheel gap as before. Plus, the OEM wheels offsets are never aggressive. Always tucked under. Even with 991's, you can have 21's all around no issues. The tire profile is usually a little lower.

The 21" isn't a good move. Totally unnecessary and $$. Wheels and Tires. For most daily driver guys, overkill.
Wheel gap will be the same, no? The tire sidewall gets higher to compensate, with the overall rolling diameter staying the same.
