Oh, I agree. But traditionally, if you show your latest and greatest which is not yet on the market too early - you hurt your current sales badly because (almost) every potential customer will ask themselves - should I wait until it comes out? And most likely they will.

Their current sales are fine and dandy. They can't make them fast enough.

I'm sure any "delay" even if that's true, is production related. Maybe it was never supposed to be shown this year at any show anyway, thus not really a delay. They still have a lot of 991.2 GT's to crank out and have had third party supplier issues. Special model GT's like Speedster, etc.coming too. Plus retooling for a new generation is a big job.

Hm. Went into the Swedish configurator. Only visible 911 models are the 4WD derivatives of the GTS plus the GT3RS.... But when choosing a 4GTS, there's another message (in red...) stating that current modelyear is sold out. It says "there may be some cars on dealer lots"...

Same red message box on the German one regarding availability. There however, they still show all 911-derivatives. But not possible to order...

I will be at my dealer tomorrow for a small warranty fix, I will ask my seller what he knows

I was told by a dealer that targa 4s production was finished already.... zero idea if there is truth to that but that's what he said.

I wonder if the dealer was talking about production of the 991.2 targa 4s?

Or, emissions [scandal]-related, TUV, or other regulatory hurdles. No better way for ‘lawmakers’ in the EU to put pressure on VAG than to F@#k with VAG’s profit-generating division.

yes he was... but I haven't seen confirmed anyplace else that they've stopped making them. I'd imagine we are still at least 18 months from a 992 Targa being built.

Agree with you it's probably 18 months away since they'll roll out the C2/C4 and C2S/C4S trims first then go to the Targa and other trims.

Talked to my dealer today. She said she hasn’t heard anything about a delay. She confirmed:
  • World premiere on L.A. Auto Show on Nov. 30th
  • Availabilty of C2S & C4S in configurator starting 1st December
  • Delivery in March 2019 (at least here in Germany)
Haven’t reaches my neighbors sister’s husband yet (911 fuel tank engineer). Hope he sings like last time...

I got hit in my 2016 GTS Cab a few weeks ago. A truck ran a red light at 73 mph and totaled my car. I am blessed to still be here. Was trapped in the car until firemen got me out. The leg airbags saved my legs. So I am planning to order a 911 Turbo 991.2. Not too interested in a manual stick anymore since the PDK is so awesome and quick. But I don't want that little shaver in the 992 so staying with the 991.2.
Hopefully by the time the 992.2 rolls around they will have put the PDK stick back into the car.

****. You alright?

I understand the pain. I was rear ended by an SUV on the interstate about a year ago. Obliterated a rare car.

Thankfully my body was relatively intact.

I am confused... Porsche is shipping 2019 991.2 now so this means 992.1 will be 2020 model?

Imho they’re fine. Probably more aerodynamic.

They pop out when you unlock the car:
