If this was the 992 coming next year, I'd sell my 2018 C4S in a heartbeat. This is where I think the cross-platform styling ques should come from. The Taycan, not the Macan..

This is the 911 of the future

In this mocked up image, the front lights are cut and pasted directly from the Mission E/Taycan.

Would it have killed them to at least line up the hood with the fender / bumper seam?

Seriously. Kills the whole aesthetic point of the square hood.

I fear this 992 has missed the point of many things along with the aesthetic point of the square hood...

I can't see any possible reasoning for that "design choice". I'm sure there will be some justification from Porsche (as always), but it's just plain bad design.

Even if I could get used to the rest of the car, I'd always see this and it would bug me to death.

Im willing to wager the hood line is a result of moving the engine forward and keeping the interior space the same. There is a huge pressure from us fanboys not to make it any bigger, so they prob said, "F it" we will just tuck in the front bumper

Good guess. ...or maybe they just made the frunk a little bigger to accommodate future AWD hybrids?

No. They make it look like a funny car.

The only question is whether they're trying to turn the 911 into a Panamera or a Macan. I like some aspects of the new design but there are also a lot of highly questionable calls. Of course we still haven't seen the real thing in all its glory yet.

Highly doubt this. Those kind of hard points are fixed a long time ago, it would be easy to change the hood stamping If they wanted. There is a reason. Either a curious aesthetic choice, or something to do with manufacturing.

They could've aligned hood seam with fender to bumper seam. Wtf with that half an inch protrusion.
