Man, I want the 911 to be a sports car, not a $$$$$ panamera. For that dash, that is why we have a Panamera; Why is Porsche hiring crappy designers. Omg!!! It just looks like some new guy/gal in the office wants to make a name for themselves. Someone needs to talk to me (my work is in stocks), lets buy enough VW shares, change management and put a Porsche enthusiasts in charge.

As everyone has mentioned 996 = I feel the rage of 996 issues happening all over again.

The Spoiler breaks the lines of the 911 when closed. Why aren't dealers in here giving Porsche feedback about this?

First I can't help but say WOW I'm still shocked at how TERRIBLE a name "Taycan" is. Porsche are usually naming masters (Panamera for such a big long sporty saloon made by the most famous racing company in the world = genius).... but that looks like a joke internal name they made for a toy Macan or something.

Second, in that dream I mentioned e.g getting up close and personal with a 992, the "Taycan" and some other future EV cars were gotten up close and personal with as well. It ("Taycan") looks.... "good" but something about it was less than perfect. On some hands it should look stunning, and perhaps on the road it will especially so, and on the other, somehow proportionally and the "middle ground" between "electric future" and "classic Porsche tradition" kiiiind of looked at odds. But on the other hand, I can also say that Porsche absolutely nailed finding that middle ground, between two polar opposite extremes in design idiom, and executed it better than anyone ever could. Still, I didn't come away thinking it was for me, after said dream (after owning a 911 I dunno how I can ever get excited by or find any sedan anything but "ho hum" normalcy). But who knows. It certainly isn't "jumping the shark" as Porsche went through pains to make it look like a classic Porsche still, whilst obviously ushering in a new EV styling era as well. I will say after seeing all those EV's, they made the 992 look especially good as in contrast, it looked like a classic 911 which really softened the effects I find crude, like the hood shutline, the horrid Norelco shifter, and unfinished seeming big vertical mass of plastic dash.

Still, once you guys see the 992, you'll notice it looks like a 991, a lot. Though we still need good side by side pictures to really see what's what. This is absolutely NOT "993 to 996" as the 992 almost looks like a facelifted 991. The 991.1 to 991.2 fundamentally was more "993 to 996" in terms of powertrain. However, INSIDE, yes, this is the biggest change since "993 to 996" so I agree there.

Porsche got some bad news from their trademark attorneys. All the best names were taycan.

I'm prepared for the shout downs, but I'd upgrade my 991.2 for this. I would not upgrade for the current 992 being shown. (Except I'm not a fan of the 918 wheels)

I just saw the same convoy of 992s in person yesterday in my neighborhood in LA that another RLer saw in CO last week. 3-4 black camo'd ones and one Guards Red slightly camouflaged

I am eating a bit of crow, at least for the exterior in person they looked pretty damn good. Hard to put my finger on what differentiates it from a 991.2 exactly, but there was "detectable" presence. Maybe they look bigger & wider. The rear especially looks killer with the integrated exhaust exits in the fascia as well (really like the GT2RS style one) & huge *** which I won't necessarily complain about

Maybe I'll just give up on the GT games/spare myself the headache, and pick up a "regular" 992.1 C4 since there a couple remaining dealers that I still would like to give business to

I'm hoping some nice dramatic headlight lights are hidden behind those stickers.

that looks awesome, it looks like a two-seater, much shorter wheelbase, got a rear wing like a 964, I want it

Nice, looks very Porsche and yet modernistic. Not sure I care much for the headlights though.

Where in LA did you see them? I live in the South Bay area and work in Santa Monica. Will keep my eyes open and camera ready if they are around.

@sampelligrino

Are you saying the 992 looked good? I'm confused because you then say you want to pick up a 991.2.........

I just saw the 992 in person.

Pictures don't really do it justice. It has a certain presence in person that pictures cannot capture.

Bravo Porsche.
