I’m always amazed at how easy it is to tweak existing technology and get a patent...

But that layout is exactly what I would hope for if Porsche produces a high tech “hybrid” 911 turbo - an electric turbo compressor, a generator to capture exhaust energy, and a battery or an exotic capacitor to serve as a small energy reservoir between the two.

Use the next TT/S to develop and implement the new tech, flow the TT/S tech down to the Carrera and 718 lines with each generation change, and make the GT3/4/3RS into a line of street legal Cup cars.

Is it something about the flat six or is Porsche just trying to make them sound more raw and simply missing the mark?
I actually think there may be hope. The last car that peels out with a little acceleration (the one where they flashed a peace sign) sounded pretty good. I hate the exaggerated turbo whistle of the 991.2 cars. I didn’t hear it on that car. It’s never going to sound like a NA car, but I think these cars will sound much better.

Porsche has been getting an earful (sorry) about the sound of the 991.2 for nearly 2 years, and the sales haven’t been as stellar as they’d like. They’re a proud gang of German gear heads - I doubt that they like having the 911 sound ‘meh’. That’s not really in their DNA. I remain an optimistic cynic.

This is a company who's diving/driving head first into electric too and working on what unique electronic "interior sound" they can come up with on those.

Kinda losing faith.

Anytime someone mentions electric engines getting a "unique sound", I just picture star wars ship noises.

I wanna buy vintage NA soundtrack for my Voltron/Taycan whatever that is. If that's our near future, I better be sitting on a sofa and drive in VR helmet, with synthetically engineered motor oil slowly tear-droping on my moving capsular set-up.

That horrible computerized fake noise emitting from that Audi is the sound of 100+ years of automotive passion and tradition down the drain....

True.

But, sadly, it sounds better than 90% of modern cars with chain-driven DFI motors. It’s hard (not impossible) to make an inline-4 or v-6 sound good and that’s what powers the vast majority of today’s cars.

Were in the .1% that cares about sound. 99.9% of the world wants A-B transportation so we get mundane products.

I completely agree but what I don't get is why this 99.9% are purchasing high end, niche vehicles in the first place. If it's mundane A-B they are after why even bother paying a premium for an Audi , Porsche etc. because it's their heavy influence that is shifting the market and effectively ruining enthusiasts brands with this garbage.
