More aluminum and extensive use of hot-formed high-strength steel in the frame.

I’m really interested to see how that affects structural rigidity. The 991 is already super rigid at around 40k nm’s it torsional strength.

It's just my personal hunch, but don't be surprised if the 992 comes out in a small displacement 6 hybrid, with twin electric turbos. The potential of electric turbos is awesome in sports cars, because there is no turbo lag with full boost at low rpm, and no exhaust backpressure at any rpm. So a 9000 rpm GT3 engine is easily done with awesome performance from something like a 2.7L with electric twin turbos, and maybe a small electric motor. And it could pull really hard from down near idle with full boost. This technology needs to be hybrid, because the electric turbos Bosche is playing with need 7 Hp electric motors. Way too many Amps at 12 volts, requiring too much heavy copper cables. So don't be surprised to see a 992 hybrid as Porsche adopts twin electric turbos. The potential performance envelopes are staggering. Better than F1, if they choose.

I believe a hybrid drivetrain 992 911 has already been confirmed by Porsche.

This is the first remark I've read about the 992 that has me actually excited for the potential of the upcoming generation. You are almost describing a F1 engine maybe similar to what the AMG Project One has, it's rumored to have over 1000 hp from its F1 1.6L twin turbo V6 + hybrid system (redline is eleven. thousand. RPM)...the key would be weight IMO

Yeah the 992 will be nothing like that. Think 991.2 in a new bigger body with a HP bump, interior from the new Panny and some tweaks here and there.

This-^

Folks thinking otherwise haven’t been paying attention.

Now, the 992.2 due in MY ‘24-ish, all bets are off.

Glad it doesn’t share the look, but pity it can’t sound as good as a Lexus these days eh?

Skmething is strange about the world these days...

That Lexus looks and sounds kinda like someone high up at Toyota said 'build me a Japanese version of the last Audi RS5...'

Still doesn't sound very good though.

It sounds good because it is a V8. Since when did a V8 engine not sound amazing????? Turbos rob the sound. Enhanced exhaust can improve the sound of a 6 TT but never match the sound of a V8.
The sound of the 991.2 turbo motor is why I cancelled my plan to get the 991.2 and purchased one of the very last NA 991.1 GTS Cabs; all because of the much better sound verses the vacuum sounding 991.2. I have spent several hours with my local Porsche Club attempting to find the best exhaust to enhance the sound on the 991.2. Fabspeed has some products that make a big difference but still doesn't resolve the weak sound especially during cruise drive.
Obviously we will need to do this for the coming 992.
