I think a lot of people on this board shop for the fastest and care a lot about all out speed. I know myself and prefer back roads and a cigar. Looking to enjoy the experience and want more analog with nothing to prove to anybody.
Will be buried in my 991.1 but will supplement the stable this year with either a V8 VantageS or GT manual coupe or a V8 R8 manual. Looking more and more like the aston. Depends on how far I keep modding the 911 which way I go. The Aston will stay pretty stock where the R8 is game on ricer.

Thanks man! I still pinch myself via being lucky enough to score an Aqua Blue!
Not crazy about 996 headlights, but believe it or not, I always loved the 996! Think it looks very modern/timeless and great to this day. Sans the headlights to some degree.
Indeed. The 993 is a stunner (all air cooled 911’s are really), but the 991 is the perfect current culmination of the 911 lineage. Porsche did an absolutely perfect job with it, imo.
As for the 996, I'm warming more and more to the idea of refitting one to be an ideal 'analog car.' Gutting the interior, A/C, sound system, power steering, and having a lightweight tossable 911.

I absolutely HATE the tail light design. Looks ok on the Panamera. Imagine the work that would have to be done to wrap the car with that lettering...
Looks like tail light design peaked with the 991.1

For me the modern Carrera's are all about usability. They are essentially a fun modern day sports car that you can daily drive without feeling like a computer is doing all of the work for you. That is why I'm looking forward to the 992. The 991.2 was not much of an upgrade in my eyes but my 991.1 is definitely starting to show it's age in some areas. So I'm looking forward to the 992 to become the new daily and my upcoming 991 GT3 (and hopefully a G50) will be the weekend toys.

As of today, the 991 is definitely the best looking water cooled 911 in my mind. But the current 911 is really more of a GT car compared to the previous generations. IMO, the air cooled 911's are and always will be the real 911's and therefore the best looking 911's. I'm actively shopping for a G50 and the feeling and connection these cars give you compared to the current generation is really unmatched.

I can't stand the billboard vertical PORSCHE logo. Will be the SAME across all Porsche models. Yuck.
Looks dumb when the model will be below floating instead of one cohesive badge.
The 911 has officially been whored out. It's just being morphed into a mainstream car to cross sell all the other models which really makes them $$ and will fuel growth. Sports cars are becoming a smaller piece of the business every year. Porsche is getting bigger and moving in the same direction as the other big German car companies.

To me, the billboard style PORSCHE emblem on the newer cars, including this one, looks much cleaner and more neatly integrated than the 991's. I still prefer when it used to just say “Carrera” on the back like on my 997, but times change and I guess people are more into badges/branding now.

To each their own, but I was never a fan of the rear badging on 991s. The PORSCHE emblem was too big for my taste and it seems like it was plopped on there without much regard to spacing/real estate on the decklid. Plus, with full model names displayed (for example: 911 Carrera 4 GTS), the rear was beginning to look very busy and more and more like a tombstone inscription!
