On the 992:

"The manual transmission will remain available, and it will keep the seven speeds."

"Porsche will allow customers to disable the automated rev-match function in the future, though. It’s another example of perfectionism going a bit too far, depriving customers of the satisfaction of their own perfectly executed heel-and-toe shift. "

"As far as body variations are concerned, don’t expect any changes for the 992." Meaning we should expect the same base/s/gts/cab/targa/turbo models I'd bet.

"The 992 is being engineered with a plug-in hybrid derivative, to be launched after the regular models. Achleitner is guarded on the details, but he says that the 992’s hybrid system will not be shared with the Panamera and Cayenne but inspired by the 919 Hybrid LMP1-H race car."

" There won’t be a four-cylinder 911 in the 992 generation"
Interesting that the article speculates a late 2019 release as a 2020 model. Many are expecting a late 2018 reveal and Spring/Summer 2019 model.

Definitely curious (and as you mention) different than other publications.

But makes sense. If the 992 is introduced as a 2020 model, that gives the 991.2 a normal, three-year run.

I think they are the real deal.

I also think they look better than the current turbo fenders. Those flatten out too much on top of the fender and it looks very square compared to the rounded hip a 911 should have. This 992 turbo fender looks properly curved and a throwback to the original Turbo.

Well with those massive fenders they better get the wheel offsets just right. They need to be pushed out WAY more, else it negates the entire visual effect.

I doubt it. The first Carrera test mules had those fenders too and later the 992 Carrera test mules with wide fenders came. It just means the later turbo test mules are going to have wide integrated fenders. Not those stick on. The Turbo is still in the early phases.

We will soon see who is correct.

LMAO. At first glance, I thought that was a 992 and said to myself “WOW, now THAT’S a great picture of the new car.”

One thing 991 owners won’t have to worry about is their cars looking dated or irrelevant. Which of course is the greatest benefit to owning any 911.

Yeah, a 69T looks so damn much like a new Carrera.

Well... that (maybe) and the tariffs imposed on 1 liter and above engines of Japanese bikes.

As for the 992, I don't care for the electronic binnacles, since they are so much wasted space in anything other than the map mode. There is nothing else you can use them for, usefully, at least. But those are bearable... as long as they don't use that God awful nub of a shifter thing!!

^ this x 991!

Until I became a Porsche-nut, I couldn't tell the difference between a 997 or a 991 except from the taillights. And non-car enthusiasts cannot tell them apart at all. Looks like more of the same with the 992 LOL. Which shouldn't be surprising!

New Turbo pic.

Also, news on the GT3. It will be turbo'd and supposedly not available with 6MT. I can understand going turbo; the racecar needs it to kick *** and the streetcar needs it for emissions, the manual though... Why?

After a FIFTY percent take rate in the US, I can't understand why they'd consider axing the manual. You can get a goddamn base Golf with a FIVE speed. You should be able to get a stick GT3 too.

Really. What the fck. Stick hatchbacks, yet mandatory autoboxes for the GT3.

I hope the rumors are wrong.

The next GT3 will basically be a scaled down current GT2. So predictable. Not loving the carved hood in the last pic either.

Perhaps they are saving the manual for the 992.2
