There is no doubt that Porsche R&D is working to improve the sound in the 992.
They have received sufficient negative feedback on this point that it is likely being addressed in some way.
Just my speculation of course since I have no actual information but it makes sense.
I recall, that the PSE/exahust was the last major component to be developed on the .2 because they wanted to "get it right". That translates to me as......."we struggled with it and knew it wasn't perfect but we did our best before production started" 992 will sound better.
That said, I like the sound of my .2.
Me too.
So K-A has casual car guys coming up to him and asking if its new or one of the better sounding 911s? Has that ever happened to anyone anywhere? Hilarious.....

Most people don’t even know what “air cooled vs water cooled” even means, certainly not as popular or common as a good old fashioned N/A vs FI debate, yet we see heated topics on that to this very day.

Interesting as my experience has been opposite. My friends (non Porsche people) have all liked the .2 GTS better. I guess sound is subjective. They all said my old one (14 S) sounded like a VW. I don't think it's safe to assume that EVERYONE hates the .2 sound.
Best exhaust sound is GT car or a domestic V8 IMO

Race Car
I have it in my new Yukon XL Denali and although I like it, it isn't quite as precise at keeping speed as in my previous 991 (shocking, I know!). And much more abrupt.

992 looks like a 991 with a stupid wing and a square hood.
That is all.

That about sums it up. Some are thinking a little too deeply
What next, an image of the Virgin Mary?
Porsche takes small baby steps which is ok. No need to rock the boat.

Yeah, the exterior will be an extremely slight and incremental change (true to 911 form, a great thing, and thank Porsche for maintaining the lineages integrity in such fashion). Every 911 is timeless, but the 991 will literally look like a brand new model for a long time to come.
The biggest change will clearly be the interior.

They feel like if they repeat the lie over and over it will just be accepted the same as repeating 'Russia' over and over. I suppose if I was stuck with the old car I'd want to think it offered something special but that kind of insecurity is sad.
The 992 is shaping up very well IMO.

The 991.1 sounds boring and the 3.4 is basically an angry beehive.
Nothing quite like the sound of turbos spooling
The 991.2 is not all bark and no bite

That sounds craptastic. Making it louder doesn’t make it better. The angry vacuum cleaner brigade rides again.

omg here's KA again, trying REALLY REALLY hard to justify his purchase. Been lurking on this forum a while but had to register and comment on his comments.
Just FYI as context, he used to argue on and on on the macan forums - about how his decision to not option the roof rails made his macan more aerodynamic than the ones that did have roof rails... So ya, to say the least, take whatever he says with a grain of salt. Whatever he buys and options will always be the "best".
