Sorry about my ignorance, but wasn't Porsche planning to flip the engine on the 911 to make it a mid engine?

Please forgive my ignorance, but this thread made me wonder... what happens to test mule cars? do they get destroyed once the final product is out? do they go to a museum? do they get dismantled into pieces? is there a test mule heaven?

Coincidentally, there was an article just a few days ago where Porsche donated a "pre-production" Panamera (test mule?) to a fire department for some exercises: Maybe this is one answer?

They raffle them off at the Porsche office Christmas party.

Not for road cars. The FIA allowed the flip to promote competition.

When are they going to stop making these things wider?? Roads stay the same width generally so at some point it's going to have to stop, but when?

Plan is to keep making them wider until they're not drivable then revert back to horse and buggy and bikes.

But, it will have to be a solar-powered electric horse.

That's a separate vehicle to fight Ferrari 488GTB, McLaren, etc. to sit somewhere between GT3/Turbo and 918. 911's will always be rear-engined (while creeping to the middle).

We have a 718 and a 918 ... I look forward to the 818, hopefully styled more like a 918 than a 718

Actually I'm very put off by those 992 pics, when it comes to trading my 911 (in 2-3 years) I might go to a Panamera Sport Turismo and wait for the 818 or whatever it is called.
