One s piece of info that is inconsistent with other reports:

"In keeping with Porsche’s modern-era rollout strategy, the 992 will initially only be available in Carrera 2 and Carrera 2S flavors."

You missed it. They all mention the 8 speed, 4 shaft PDK.

Just an FYI, I subscribe to Car and the Automobile article is the same one as the one in Car, written by Georg Karcher. Automobile often publishes his reviews the same month as they are published in Car.

"This time around, improving ergonomics, adding new driver assistance systems, and further reducing emissions were the primary objectives"

Neither of which are any issue to me in my 991.2...

That quote translated into honesty would read : " This time around , change for the sake of change , cutting costs and adding needless flashy gimmicks to entice shallow perspective buyers were the primary objectives"

One of the articles mentioned they went with the "METROSEXUAL ****" (my quote) to make room for the big gulp cup holder?? Mentioned it was plastic like ..

Gone is the beefy, manly shifter with aluminum and leather.

It doesn't make much sense but then again neither does any of the reasoning behind what they are doing. Besides, I'll need a big gulp cup to spit into after looking at the disgusting amount of finger grease all over that haptic touch console. It makes my stomach turn....

Investing $7 BILLION into electric. Yes, $$$ SEVEN BILLION $$. Yes, we know where the emphasis will be. Too big to fail, or is it?

It's an absolutely staggering gamble and one spurred on and financed by VW.

It's funny, I was worried when VW took over in 2012 that they were going to ruin Porsche by cheapening and watering down their products with the sole intention of cranking the profitability of the brand name. VW is a corporate juggernaut hell bent on world domination. I feared a scenario would play out that would involve VW sucking out all the engineering prowess and prestige of Porsche to use across it's entire lineup. Similar to what happened when GM took over Saab, sucked it dry and left it for dead when it unsurprisingly flopped.

It was fortunately too late for them to ruin the 991 which was already in production at the time. However, the subsequent models haven't been so lucky and the 992 appears to have gone under the same knife. I wonder what a VW free Porsche would look like in 2018....
