Default Where's the odometer?

Hey all, sorry for the stupid question but does the odometer only display on the dashboard screen with customizable dials? I know it shows up when you first turn on the ignition next to the clock and temperature on the bottom left corner of the display but it disappears shortly afterward on my car. In order to see the odometer after this happens I have to switch screens.

Is this normal behavior for the 992.2?

Yes - normal behavior. I found that a bit surprising also.

Since these cars rarely turn 100k, the engineer is figured it wasn’t worth the display space to watch for it. The other reason is the same as why clocks are never in clothing stores.

A permanent odometer display is really becoming a thing of the past. But if you want it, you can choose the Trip display for the right 'barrel'.

Got it, thanks. Was just wondering if there was something going on with my dash electronics. Not that having an odometer permanently on display is going to affect daily driving or anything.

My new BMW X6 M60i is the same, only see it when I first start the car. I prefer to see it all the time. Oh well.......

Also - go to 3 barrel view, set the left barrel to show speedo, it is there at the bottom.

Bad design feature, albeit relatively minor. There’s something comforting, or not, knowing at a quick glance of the dash the total mileage of your car.

Historically mileage has always been on permanent display on all cars, and I’ve been used to it on every car I’ve driven since high school in the ‘80s ... until my new T. If anything, it should be an option to configure on all views of the 911 dash/screen.

Regardless of the chosen view, when the car is on and in Park, the Current External Temp, Time, and Mileage are always displayed in the lower left:

You can test this by:
— starting car
— make sure car is in Park
— cycle though all the different views
— the current temp, time, and mileage is always shown at lower left of instrument display

Agreed. Not a dealbreaker by any means but still mildly disconcerting for those of us who grew up driving cars with mechanical odometers.
