Default Auto parts orders

Has anyone ordered parts from overseas post tariffs? I know 5/3 is when they are supposed to go to 25% globally but are the baseline tariffs being collected already? Have you guys gotten any communication from aftermarket parts suppliers? I have an exhaust on order and not sure how to proceed as I do not want a surprise bill for a few thousand extra. Do they just call you from customs and demand a check to let the item through or does the parts company pay it and charge you up front ?

I got some European parts recently (last week) and did not have to deal with any tariff drama. Shipped DHL.

I’ve received Amazon orders from overseas suppliers that cleared customs with no issues. I just ordered turbo inlet pipes from do88, so we shall see.

I recently received some Genuine Porsche parts that I ordered four weeks ago. They had to come from Germany. No tariff. FYI, the auto part tariff is not scheduled to take effect until May 1.

Jumping in on this older post… I’ve noticed a few suppliers quietly adding tariff surcharges only at checkout, while others haven’t changed anything yet. Might be worth asking your vendor for a written confirmation of the final price before they ship. Has anyone here actually been charged the full 25% on a recent international order?

I’ve been in the same boat lately, and the only thing that’s kept me from losing my mind is getting clear answers from the seller before paying. With other parts I’ve ordered, even from places like coxmotorparts.co.uk for my VW, the key was confirming whether the tariff was baked into the quote or added at delivery. I’d ping your exhaust supplier directly so you don’t get hit with a surprise bill later.

I'll jump in here. I ordered a exhaust valve controller for my 2025 BMW X6m60i from a company in Australia and it included free shipping. They shipped it via DHL. Two days before it arrived to me I received a e-mail from DHL Stating "Import Duty Payment Is Required" wanting $20.57 before they would deliver it to me. Since I already paid for the controller I went ahead and paid it and received the box a couple of days later. Again this part came from Australia so probably where your parts are shipped from makes a difference on whether or not you are charged a Tariff/Import duty fee. This company does say on their website that there may be Tariff/Import fees due on delivery and to check with your local government.....Ha/Ha, just who I want to call to get a straight answer from!

I got the same note from DHL on my order from DB Carbon in November.

its so random that we if a part is coming from overseas, we warn the customer and tell them you "might" pay tarrif before we process their orders
there is also the possiblily of the law changing from the time the order is placed until the time its actually delivered
