Default RAS and no Lithium Battery! ?

I was just about to hook up my new LiPo battery tender and was surprised(!) to see that my new 2024 Carrera T with Rear Axel Steering has an AGM battery! This is news to me. Did Porsche recently stop using Lithium ion batteries on RAS cars? If you have a new (2024) car with RAS, I'd be interested to know what kind of battery it came with... Thanks.

2024 T built in April and I have AGM. My understanding that they killed LiPo in T’s at end of 23.

Yup so far every 2024 992.1T that I’ve come across was AGM (including mine).

992.1 Targa 4S delivered last November with AGM.

All the 991.2s with rear steering had regular batteries, no lithium, as standard. The whole "rear steering requires lithium" was just a way to sell more lithium batteries at a higher MSRP after so many positive reviews of the rear steering.

'24 models produced this year with RAS have AGM.

Huh, okay, looks like AGM is now standard. I had thought I had read somewhere that LiPo was required for RAS cars, but apparently not anymore. Aside from the minor hassle of returning my CTEK LiPo charger, I guess I'm happy that the cars now use AGM given the high cost of LiPo batteries, and their need for more regular recharging (driving).

I find it hilarious that the T was sold as the lightweight 911 for 'purists', then they fit a big hunk o' lead negating much of the purported weight savings. More proof that the T was a triumph of cynical marketing over physics. Meh.

ps. @aways , LiPo fear and loathing is completely overdone. In my circle, I don't know anyone that's had LiPo issue (remember, they were standard on all GT cars), and my '21 C2S with RAS and LiPo has been flawless, and it's not a babied garage queen on a tender hooked up 24x7. Sure, there are absolutely ppl that have had issues, but like most things the internet amplifies the negative.

at least feels like a discount for getting the cheaper AGM on the T when it was marketed as having the pricier LiPo would have been nice.

I welcome the LiPo fear and loathing - so far I've picked up 3 of them on ebay - two needed circuit cards reprogrammed, but I paid $75 / each for the batteries! Bring it - I put LiPo in everything.

I blame user error. Owners of LiPo batteries didn't read the manual or were unaware of how to maintain one. I guess the frequent cases of dead lightweight batteries, supply shortage and cost was enough for Porsche to scrap it.

Well, it's great if you guys have the AGM equipped batteries, because now you can go with either an aftermarket Lithium, or stick with your AGM ....you have options now. The Porsche Lithium was a proprietary battery and locked you into having to use that battery, it also was proven to fail and that is one reason why Porsche bailed on it. But now you are free to buy what you want. Antigravity has a Lithium Battery with Wireless built-in Jump Starting so you will never be stranded or locked out of your frunk yet is half the cost of the Porsche Lithium.... So its Win-win for those of you that got the AGM set up.

Which battery do you recommend for the 992? How much weight savings do you expect?

I’ll be able to tell you this week, after much discussion with the friendly folks at antigravity I purchased the antigravity H6 group 48 40 ah and just need to grab a few minutes to pull the AGM currently in the car and weigh the two side by side before I swap in the new Antigravity.
