Yeah this just confused me when I pulled it up. leaving carplay takes the same one button push as opening that app so not sure why I care. maybe over time something interesting pops up and there is a reason to use it. For now I don't see any reason...

There are 2 aspects to this update:
1. The “My Porsche” app running in CarPlay, which just lets you control a few basic car functions. There are no new capabilities here, just alternate UI.
2. iOS Shortcuts for car functions. This is new. There are two facets of this:
2a. You can ask Siri to trigger these functions, e.g., raise/lower the temperature, tweak ambient lighting, and a few others.
2b. You can use the Shortcuts app on your iPhone to “script” behaviors that integrate with your car. For example, you can write a script that triggers when you say “let’s go home” that starts driving directions home, txts your spouse your eta, turns on the climate control to a warmer temp, sets the ambient lighting, and starts your “chill” music playlist.
I played with it this morning and, unfortunately, they’ve only exposed a small number of functions to iOS Shortcuts. I hope that this is just the beginning and that they will expose many more over time.
