PCM5 Whole Screen Carplay/Android Auto
6 Attachment(s)
Before I get started, I am like most of you. I was skeptical, thought I was going to be scammed and thought the PCM would be bricked after this. But I was WRONG; I went with someone who had lots of reviews on multiple forums and is the original developer of the product. Not some copycat or pass-through imitators.
Now to the real stuff, I upgraded my MY2021 PCM5 911 to Whole Screen Apple CarPlay, and it is a game changer. So let's go over the process. I first started communicating with Raymond from https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/ via WhatsApp; his number is +64 21 404 548, and we exchanged many messages before I took the plunge. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. They are running a promotion on their website for forum members too. I purchased this option https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/pro...o-whole-screen since they have two versions. Think of them as basic and premium. The basic gets you full screen, but the icons are not scaled; they are just spread on the screen to fill the space, with no distortion or any weird misplacements. Knowing how OCD I am and how I will not be happy with the basic option, I went with Whole Screen (premium option). This gives you the full screen, but things are appropriately scaled, and the icons are larger; again no distortion or weird misplacements. Here is a link to what I ended up getting https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/pro...o-whole-screen. You can see the pics on their website, but I am sharing my pictures here. Once I made the purchase, I was asked to buy a specific USB Ethernet Connector (link ). I tried to be smart and buy locally to expedite the process. I bought 7 different connectors from microcenter and Best Buy hoping that one of them would have the required chip AX88772, but none did, so I bought the amazon one. When it arrived, I texted Raymond on WhatsApp, and he got right to work. You need a computer running windows (I used my matchbook pro with Bootcamp, and it worked just fine). Of course, I connected the car to a battery tender to avoid any unintended shutdowns. You also need TeamViewer, USB Drive, and an Ethernet cable. Raymond sent me a folder to exact to the USB drive and sent instructions at the start of the process. I started a TeamViewer Session where he first he configured the USB/Ethernet connector, then asked me to plug the USB/Ethernet into the car's USB1 port, the thumb drive into USB2 ports, and resort PCM in engineering mode using the two-finger method. From there, I sat back and watched. If you have ADHD or anxiety, make sure you take your meds before the process, the system will go blank and reboot a couple of times. Every time I run the scenario in my head of what I am going to tell the dealer of the system is bricked. ONLY the Apple CarPlay screen is impacted; everything else stays the same. I asked if the dealer can detect this and the answer was no because it is at the application level, returning to stock is just as easy and lastly this should not interfere with any OTA updated. About 20 minutes later, the process was complete, and as promised HQ Whole Screen Apple CarPlay. Raymond asked permission to go into the last top to reset network settings again and remove the temp files; of course, I said yes because I had no idea what to do with these files. I am happy to answer questions and post more pictures if anyone is interested. Disclaimer: I am not getting anything for this review, I already paid and have it running. Just doing the guy a favor and sharing my experience. |
Thanks , enjoy the new HD CarPlay like PCM6 now :)

How much is the forum discount?
|
So is this a permanent change or can you toggle back to a split CarPlay/PCM view like OEM if you wanted to?
|
To my knowledge to revert it back to 3/4 screen it needs to be coded again.
|
I have the same mod and it's amazing...highly recommended and can't think of a reason to change it back (though it's definitely a bit of a science project as mentioned). No idea why this is not available from the factory.

|
no, pcm6 already made screen in good display radio, no need to change

Coding is pretty much constant, why have a subpar version and a “normal” version of scaling at separate price points? And then it is sold as premium. That’s insane. Would make more sense if it were tangible feature add on
|
Can you confirm it is not impacted by iOS/Carplay updates?
|
As to differentiate the product from others, because guys call normal full screen is HD, which is hard to explain, so better to have two product listed

I remember this from the Cayenne 3rd gen forum. Looks cool, just don’t think it is $600 cool with no more/new usable features.

Of course the 992 has wireless CarPlay so that doesn't matter. Now he is offering full screen CarPlay for like $250 or the complete experience where the software actually makes the spacing right for $650 or so. Not sure what the coding difference is to make that happen, but we are talking 2x+ the cost. To put it into context, my: Escort RedLine360c was $800 or so. Blackvue DR-900X-2Ch dashcam was $500 or so. and I have yet to purchase but consider an M-Engineering Tune at $2,500 which is pricey but I hear quite a good tune, is appealing and feel there is good value. Not sure a $650 version of full screen CarPlay in line with that. That's just my opinion. I can see $129 for the base version and $199 for the better version. That would make sense. For the longest time I didn't like the icons on the side, showing album art for a station that wasn't playing. Then I found out I could permanently change it to the AC functions including controlling how hard or soft the airflow is. I did that and it's less obtrusive and right at your finger tips. The far right of the screen is far away I don't really need to engage with it and it isn't really part of my driving view. |
Thanks for the feedback in term of the pricing. And really appreciated that.
however the modification is not coding, it requires UI to be recompiled in manufacturer standard. if it just coding then it wouldn’t be that hard, and no development is needed. I guess everyone could even do that by themselves. In order to make it to work, there are a lot development work and resources involved.

Got my install done last night and concur with the other positive posts here!! Everything went very smoothly. All I had to do was plug a usb/ ethernet adapter and memory stick and sit back to watch as everything was done remotely. Looks and operates just like the oem installs on my other vehicles. Highly recommend!

You get full screen android auto PCM5 does not support wireless android auto, only wireless CarPlay. but to get the wireless android l, you can by a Motorola MA1 adapter it will turn your wireless android auto to wireless |
this has nothing to do with your phone update,
whatever you do on your phone will not have any impact to the car system.

I do have a question, I have 2 vehicles that need to be updated and both fall within the range of PCM5. Based on your experience do you think I'd need to purchase the update twice or would I be able to pay once and have it updated on both of my vehicles? Just wondering if the price is for the leg work or for the access to the update? Thanks.
|
two car will be 2 installs
but surely can do something for you, please contact me for more info about pricing and detailed info WhatsApp:+6421404548 or telegram:@innovative_soft

Not sure if this was addressed in the thread. Can this update also allow one to use the CarPlay keyboard at all speeds?
|
The update will give you HD CarPlay and android auto like PCM6, it doesn’t change anything else.
but I am not sure which keyboard are you referring to, best way to contact me on the WhatsApp for more detail

I would like to share my experience. Raymond replied fast on whatsapp, no matter what time you msg him. After payment, I couldn't do it and texted him 3 days later, fast response, he sent me the files to download on a USB, he prepared it in 3 minutes. After memory USB was ready, I used a MacBook air with boot camp, emulating windows, connected the computer to the car via ethernet and USB inserted on car. He did everything in 20 minutes, I didn't do anything on the computer, in the meantime, Raymond explains all the process via whatsapp. Go grab a beer in the meantime. =D Everything was great, now my PCM5 have android auto, I recommend him.
|
Raymond is the real deal!
I am 100% in agreement with the OP. Having done a software mod AA conversion on a 718 Cayman S, I really missed the convenience and usability of AA on my 2019 992CS.
Enter Raymond at @innovativesoft https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/. He's super knowledgeable, a real expert and very helpful. Based on the reviews on this thread I went ahead and placed an order for the Whole Screen/HD mod. He answered all of my questions and was super available especially considering he's in NZ and so +13h from me! The first pass involved taking a dump of my PCM as it was a very new version following a recent dealer visit. An hour later he was back with the needed mods, and a further 20 mins later I had this beauty of a thing. In fact, it's WAY better than the the PCM3.1 mod on my Cayman. Much more seamless, much faster and responsive and much more integrated. Media, maps, notifications, phone calls, Google assistant all work perfectly. Switches to AA automatically on phone plug in and, best of all, the phone can now sit in the center console. The most important part of that is that it can no longer fly around the car when I do a launch 😎😎 PCM controls on the steering wheel work perfectly e.g., phone, skip, volume, mute etc. The only thing I haven't figured out is how the back and Opt buttons near the gear lever work - that's not 100% critical but would be nice. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...3aef7304c5.jpg AA on a 2019 992CS, nice! |
Just placed an order with Raymond. Will report back in the next couple of days what the experience/upgrade is like.

Took the plunge and upgraded to full HD about 2 weeks ago. New CarPlay interface is an improvement.
My experience with Raymond was very positive. He promptly answered all my questions via WhatsApp. He made the whole process very easy. The whole upgrade took about 1 hour. Highly recommend his services. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fef0f9b4b.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...587f7605e.jpeg |

Did the upgrade with Raymond a couple days ago to my 2021 992 S. So far everything works great.
As others said - this will require a laptop running Windows (either PC or a Mac with Bootcamp or Parallels). I know people have issues with the price- but this is far more involved than simple coding. Car gets put into "Engineering Mode" and the PCM software is modified. Yes, $545 I paid (after forum discount) is steep, but in many ways this is akin to the tune that M Engineering offers. You're paying for the work involved to bring this to a small group of 992 owners that will pay. I also have the M Engineering tune and totally respect that team/approach. Here are some photos, Waze works perfectly. This is simply a modification of the screen parameters, it has no impact to your phone and all future iOS/CarPlay upgrades will work seamlessly. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...e3efc83f42.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4783fa6201.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...8bad0a2739.jpg |

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do the same upgrade on PCM6 yet. But at least PCm6 already scaled to use proper resolution for the CarPlay with correct DPI setting. Much better than PCM5

will this void any warranty provisions?
|
Porsche does have very restricted warranty policies that is why we have made our mod very unique way. The mod on just application level which will be fully invisible to any dealers diagnostic tool. We have done so many of them for Rennlist member (more than 100) all had 100% satisfaction. No warranty issue at all

PCM Apple CarPlay Full Screen Mod - Innovative Soft
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to report that I learned about the CarPlay big screen/whole screen mod here. I contacted Raymond at Innovative Soft, and he was on it right away. Walked me thru the whole process. I really didn't have to do anything except had to buy a couple small items from amazon, and let Raymond handle the rest. He remoted into my Mac with teamviewer, we downloaded a couple easy programs that were free like Parallel to get windows on my Mac. I'd say all in all it takes about an hour or so. Raymond was really easy to work with. I don't know how they did all the coding and software to make this work, but it works! Have to say I'm real pleased to see a full screen/whole screen Apple CarPlay. Much, much better than the small CarPlay screen that comes with 2020 992. I tested it out, everything works great OEM style. All the apps work. I know it's pricey but if you want to have a way better user experience then worth it. I always found it frustrating using the small CarPlay. If you're wondering whether to do it, and are annoyed with the small apple CarPlay, then go for it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9468ca9f1a.jpg |

You can install windows on Mac with parallels, it gives you 14 days trails.
other thing you need to buy is a usb Ethernet adapter : and usb flash drive then we will do rest remotely via your computer to car connection is like : My server-> internet-> your computer—> Ethernet cable —> usb Ethernet adapter -> usb port in your car

I had to order a USB-C to regular USB adapter for my macbook. And i had to buy a USB to ethernet adapter. Both around $10 each. I think that's about it. If you have a USB-C to regular USB adapter you probably don't need this. All the other software I had to download was free.

You'll need an ethernet port and a conventional USB Type A port. The USB Type A port is needed to transfer files to a USB key that gets plugged into the car and to program the USB ethernet adapter (which you will buy from Amazon). You connect that USB ethernet adapter to the car and then link to it via the ethernet port on the computer.

USB C to USB A adapter USB c to Ethernet adapter the specific Ethernet adapter that Raymond will tell you to order |
All you need to have are:
1. Windows computer with Ethernet port ( can use any usb Ethernet adapter if you don’t nha be an Ethernet port on your computer) 2. USB flash drive 3. Ethernet cable 4. USB Ethernet adapter with ax88772 chipset

Android Auto is gorgeous and takes up the entire screen (as you can see in the picture above). And it's been super reliable so far, no issues. Very satisfied with this purchase! |
I am considering getting this but the prices seemed to have gone up. Will someone be kind enough to tell me how much you paid for the HD 1920x720 resolution option? Also, what kind of discount you may have gotten. If you don't feel comfortable posting publicly, please feel free to IM me. Thank you.

Is it really so hard to answer the question? If it's too much trouble to answer the question, don't reply.

Another very satisfied Mac only customer. Raymond was most of all patient and competent. VERY happy with my full screen HD CarPlay. This is the top end product he offers. As a Mac user with no access to a Windows computer, Raymond walked me through the process of installing free trial versions of Team Viewer and Parallels, configuring my M1 MB Pro, ordering the right Ethernet adapter and prepping the USB drive.
Equipment needed: USB adapter from Amazon that he provides the link to (under $20); USB flash drive; Belkin Ethernet adapter for my M1 MB Pro (which I already owned); and Ethernet cable. Once configured by Raymond, the install takes under 30 minutes during which you do nothing. You must have good WiFi during the install and I strongly recommend starting up your 911 and leave it running during the install to prevent battery drain, or a dead battery. Strongly recommended, and very satisfied customer. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4e8137d2b.jpeg CarPlay Home Screen https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...876e093fc.jpeg Apple Music https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...503c250e7.jpeg Apple Maps |
Was talking to a service manager while my car was in, he said that Porsche received a bit of complaints about the lack of full screen support. They plan to push an update to allow you toggle. Was not sure if it will be OTA or in person.
Keep putting pressure on PCNA, looks like complaining helps. |
The rumours came out 2 years ago, as a Porsche owner I made many complaints before, and have been told by dealer that they may consider to do something about it. But the reality is they want people to by new cars with PCM6 , so they won’t don anything for PCM5 any more, if they want I do that they could done it long time ago, it is much easier for them to do than we developed.
again there is no more PCM5 for any future production cars after 2023. I just can’t see any signs that manufacture to do something for PCM5 CarPlay UI to look like PCM6. If they do this, it will be not good for promoting their new cars

to be clear, they are not upgrading the pcm, just tweaking it. It would be the same old interface just car play being full screen. This is not updating 5 to 6 or adding anything special.
I guess time will tell. They were upgrading my software for some bulletin update. They said the right bracket arrow “>” to the right of the CarPlay window was a major source of complain in CarPlay as folks thought it functioned as expanding to fullscreen and asked them to fix it. So given the level of details, I’m quite hopeful. They said early Q1. So let’s see.

maybe is not too much about how much they charge or free, I think Porsche just can’t be bothered to do anything with it. It just no point to make it same as PCM6 look from manufacture prospective.
It will make new system not standing out from the upgrade, I just can’t think any reason and motivation they want to do that. And if they want to do it, it would be released before the PCM6 was introduced. in addition the PCM5 will be ending from next year production, why manufactures would do that to compete the new product by upgrading the old system ? It just doesn’t make sense from both market and business prospective. I could be wrong, but the chance getting manufacture update to match then CarPlay like PCM6 is absolutely very low.

I seriously doubt Porsche is going to do anything for free. This is the company that charges $250 for colored crest on the wheel. They have zero incentive to give current owners this upgrade for free. We already paid for the car! I don’t want to change topics but read the thread about activating the matrix headlights to see why I’m saying this.

I am just sharing what I got. You might be right or not. No one knows for sure. Considering they create pcm hardware for older cars, there is precedence at least on the hardware side of things. So… who knows.
Either way time will tell

also from technical perspective, the PCM5 hardware is made by alpine with qnx6.6, and new PCM6 is with APTIV with Linux on it. Completely different hardware and software.
Yeah, as I said I could be wrong, just trying to express the possibility of this rumours based on the history and facts from technical, market and business perspective. There is no 100% guarantee what will happen, but I think the chance of making old system to look like exactly the new one is just too low. of course time will tell, but the longer we wait the lower chance for manufacture update will happen WhatsApp: +6421404548 website:www.innovativesoft.co.nzContact us for discount code Porsche PCM specialist Skype:song8062 Email:info@innovativesoft.co.nz Telegram: ClickHere

Please do understand that routine update for car control modules with bulletin update are not including the PCM firmware update. All other control modules update are done via OBD can bus.
PCM firmware can only be updated via external storage, like usb flash drive or sd card, which is done by manufacture level not at dealer level. That is why the PCM firmware number never changes even after each routine update from dealer

Just got the update done on my 2020 911. I was on the fence about this upgrade since I don’t drive much to justify the full screen HD upgrade cost, however, I finally bit the bullet and got it done.
The upgrade feels like the way CarPlay should’ve been from the start. All my other cars display like this and it was an annoyance when I picked up my 911. Overall the install was very easy and Innovative was very responsive and easy to work with. This little upgrade does make a big difference especially when using Waze navigation. I’m happy with my decision and glad it didn’t impact anything else with my car. Everything works flawlessly and looks great. I recommend getting it done. |

Further solidifies my position on not paying $500 for a software unlock. Sooner or later the solution will flood the web. This is some next level greed.

The software changes that Raymond is applying are a lot more involved than simple coding, it’s a bunch more reverse engineering to develop. I’ve coded BMWs myself in the past and this is another level. I say all this with zero skin in the game aside from being a satisfied customer. |
not sure how this idea comes out, as the PCM5 system will be discontinued from next year, and the product life cycle is around 3 years time.
so if you wish free solution for it, not sure when it will happen, maybe 3-5years later, or never. By that time, most of us will be changing the new cars, it will be no motivation for this anymore. again the HD product is more than just coding, it is full development on it, unlike you are doing something that factory already have. We made this based on something that manufacturer doesn’t have. well, I am not expecting everyone can recognise the value of the product. We are living the world that we want to have something to enjoy at the right time. like you are buying any product. At end of the day, the matter is that do we need it for the time we really need it. As I said , I appreciate your concern and feedback, but I guess most of people still want to enjoy the best feature as long as we could. And that is why we are always buying newer products

Being the one that started this thread, I can tell you that I thought long and hard about the price. And even went back and forth with Raymond a lot to understand what they had to do. I even read the threads in the other forums to followed his 2 years of reverse engineering a product to get full screen and HD.
Even after I paid and he had it installed I had buyers remorse, but guess what, that remorse quickly vanished after I drive the car for a while with that full HD screen of Waze. Man it’s worth every dime, it’s not a hack it’s like it’s meant to be from the manufacturer. Works every time, even more reliable than Porsche garage door opener. Again, I get nothing for this post or promoting the product, I’m just sharing my experience. Lastly, I just want to point out that we are quibbling about paying 500 for a product we see and use everyday but have no problem paying almost 3k for matrix headlights that don’t even work in the US, just sayin!! |

I am very pleased with the mod, initially I was apprehensive of the cost, but Raymond made it a smooth process and was super understanding of my changing schedule. As a plus, he figured out how to raise the speed threshold so the on-screen keyboard is usable at all speeds.

Wish I did this so long ago!!
I just got the update for my PCM through Raymond at Innovative Soft. Man, I wish I knew about this years ago!! I was a bit nervous about the process, even with all the reviews. But I contacted Raymond and he was so knowledgeable and reassured me that it was a seamless process. He was right! He was so friendly and patient with me throughout the entire process. He provided me with the Rennlist discount code and I was able to save $50. This is so worth it! All I use is CarPlay and this is literally a game changer. If you had any doubts, you shouldn’t. Best investment I’ve made yet. Worth every penny. I’ve attached before and after photos of my CarPlay- can’t wait to start using this as it’s intended! Thanks so much Raymond!!

Looking forward to doing this upgrade in the spring, provided Porsche doesn't update PCM5 on their own as mentioned above (seems unlikely to me, but I dare to dream!).
I'm comfortable at the current pricing, as it competes with me getting $C 200/year Nav Pkg from Porsche for map updates and traffic info. I like the look of PCM5 (I seem to be in the minority) but full screen CarPlay would be a very nice alternative. |
From what I can find cool walk is being rolled out gradually to customers, whatever that means. It is not available to me as yet.
|
I think that will be very soon

I've just finished upgrading my 21 C2S to full screen android auto. Working with Raymond was a pleasure, the whole process took maybe 40 minutes and it's pretty much hands-off. I highly recommend it, now driving the car is way easier than fiddling around with sub-par phone mounts. Porsche should've provided AA support since the beginning.

Perfect job -Perfect result
I just updated the PCM5 in full screen mode on my 992 with Raymond.
The first step is to update the USB 2.0 adapter (Ax88772/uGreen) The second step is to update the PCM using the previously updated adapter. The whole process takes about 1 hour following Raymond's instructions. Raymond has a perfect command of his business and everything is done under control. The result is perfect and corresponds exactly to what is expected 🤩.

I updated my 2020 992 (PCM5) to finally benefit from the full screen experience of Wireless Android Auto this week thanks to innovativesoft! The upgrade was a breeze, took an hour to run thru, and then i picked up a carsifi wireless adapter - https://carsifi.com/ - so now i have the carsifi plugged into the 1 usb slot, and a wireless phone charger pad plugged into the 2nd usb slot (adding basic technology features that car should have been built in the first place for a six figure vehicle!).

As I posted above Raymond performed the full HD upgrade on my car and it's been fantastic. Minor nitpick: most navigation apps (Google Maps, Here WeGo) display full-screen, except Waze goes into split mode with Spotify for example (or PocketCasts, etc.. always split screen). Has anyone managed to get Waze to use the full screen? If so, how?
|
I'm in the UK and Raymond did it for me from NZ. It works beautifully especially when paired with an AAwireless dongle https://www.aawireless.io/

Does adding this void the pcm manufacturer warranty since there’s modification to software it sounds like?
|
not at all , all will be on application level , which is fully invisible to any diagnostic tool.
like yo I have app on your phone ,how could it be void warranty and also no way to tell

Another successful upgrade!
There is plenty of details above explaining how this works so I won’t go into detail.
I came across the website and contacted Raymond via WhatsApp. I have a C4S 992 2021 model in Sydney Australia. I paid a fee with discount for the full screen CarPlay option. He told me to buy the Ethernet adapter which I did. I asked him if he was free via WhatsApp (always communicable and responsive), he was and then we set up TeamViewer and he got to business. 30 min later I had not just full screen CarPlay but also wifi re-enabled and wireless CarPlay. Highly recommended and a must have for the 992! thanks Raymond 🙏🏻 https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...809dbed41.jpeg |

Renming updated my system for me and i am extremely happy.
i found out about him on the Porsche enthusiasts group on facebook that lead me here, i bought the full screen package weeks ago, i asked Ren for some time as i was swamped at work and was going on vacation in a few day, after coming back i ordered the ethernet converter and a wireless device for my pixel phone. we booked the slot and Ren was great about it, i used an older laptop that had a few firewalls on, Ren was great figuring that out and bypassing all of so he could connect to my 992 and update the system, it has been a few days and it works great. I highly recommend it. I own conceptwraps.ca and i am hoping to get some of my customers to get this upgrade as well. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cd44bbcb42.jpg |
Upgrade success!
Raymond just installed same for me today. As others have noted, they are extremely patient and flexible. Got everything working with no fuss. Slick upgrade. For those (like me) who were concerned bout losing the tiles on the side that allow you to rapidly switch radio stations and the like, Raymond suggested that I make the unassigned switch on the dash a hotbutton for radio inputs. Works very nicely. Now if only we could get google maps to show up on the right guage cluster like the native (useless) navigation.
Thanks Raymond! Let us know what other upgrades you guys come up with! Rumi |

Full Screen Carplay on 2020 C4S
Had this done a week ago...not much to add about the process, it is well covered in the thread. Raymond is good at guiding through the steps. Now that I have used it for a week, I wish I had it done earlier. Expensive?...yes...but take your frustration out on Porsche, this is the experience that should have been available in the first place. Much more user friendly after the Innovativesoft upgrade has been installed.

Having to traverse up and down menus is bonkers.. Had considered making the quick button do that, but opted to use that for the park assist cameras for times when needed negative: The icons are smaller and it might not look as classy to some but they are totally legible. Positives: the menu strip remains on the left allowing you to one- touch out of CarPlay and go right to media or anything else. I use satellite radio a lot and this saves a step with each channel change. As second win in my opinion is that because everything is smaller your map shows more. I like this a lot especially in Waze, where I found the standard images are blown up and a little crowded. I ran both setups for two weeks. For me this one seems to be the better fit. Honestly both great options and both way better than stock 2020 911. |

PCM 5 Updated!
I'm singing Raymond's praises! Raymond, of Innovation Soft did the upgrade for my 992 2020, two days ago. So now, I've finally gotten what Porsche should have delivered from the get go.
There has been a lot of information posted and I'm not be saying anything new, but Innovation Soft has been doing these upgrades since the middle of last year. Thanks again Raymond and Innovation Soft! |
Raymond converted my 09 C4S to full screen over a year ago and it ran with zero issues. Well worth it
|
Last week Raymond upgraded my 21 C2S to full screen android auto. It was a pleasure, the whole process took around 45 minutes and it's pretty much hands-off.
Its also easy to contact him, seems this guy is never sleeping ;) Thanks again Raymond! |

Just finished upgrading to full screen (wanted to keep my B&W icons on the left — felt more stock that way). Raymond was great to work with!
We had a couple technical issues (none of which were his fault — faulty cable, incompatible Mac, etc). Be sure to get yourself a great quality Ethernet cable and the exact Ethernet adapters and flag if you have an intel mac vs an M1/M2 processor. Very happy with end result! Highly recommend Raymond and Innovative Soft). EDIT: After a couple hours I decided to upgrade to whole screen since I wanted the better resolution and scaled icons. Very happy! |
OI OI OI ....! Praise the innovativesoft Gods for helping us convert our LOW RES TO A HIGH RES PCM5 MACAN GTS ....

FULL SCREEN Android Auto!! https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/
I have to second everything mentioned in this post. I just had this done for my C4S yesterday and Raymond was absolutely awesome! I ran into some issues on my end because of my laptop- old Toshiba from 1999 🤣, but Raymond was very patient and didn't bat an eyelid.
Extremely knowledgeable and very thorough with his work, he got AA up and running in no time once we were past my laptop issues. If you want AA on your PCM5, this is THE SOLUTION. Everything looks OEM, and works perfectly. I have no complaints and would recommend Raymond and https://www.innovativesoftnz.com/ for sure!! Cheers! |

The streaming over bluetooth sounded "harsh" or something on Bermester system. IDK how to describe it exactly but I didn't like it. I have an android phone and preferred not switching to Apple to get streaming over USB. This fixed it, stereo sounds great and happy now - thanks Raymand! |

Reviving this thread for a question: once AA launches, most of the time it works flawlessly.
However I have 2 problems I hope someone has the solution for: it takes quite some time for AA to become available on PCM once I turn the car on, so maybe a minute or two. And when in need for immediate driving (and most importantly getting Waze directions), this delay is annoying. Any way to speed it up? Also sometimes AA randomly disconnects, I have to wait a minute or two for it to appear on PCM again. Anyone faces this too? |
first, I have 2021 Model and Samsung S23 phone.
1. I think the spool time is consistent with the amount of time it takes PCM to spool the home screen and activate my homelink access. 2. I had the same issues with disconnect, and they got worse. I DO NOT have these issues with my S23 phone. I had them with my S-9. a) do not connect your phone to the car's BT. Let the wire be your only connection. Otherwise they conflict. b) if your connection is via a dongle, the only BT connection between your phone and your car should be thru the dongle. Do not connect your phone to car's BT. Otherwise they conflict. c) I am not a patient customer, and I was inclined NOT to believe the issues were related to operator error and/or my phone. Raymond was very consistent in his helpful feedback, and I was growing weary. In the end, it was all on me/my phone. My S23 has worked flawlessly. "Five Thumbs Up!" |

The streaming over bluetooth sounded "harsh" or something on Bermester system. IDK how to describe it exactly but I didn't like it. I have an android phone and preferred not switching to Apple to get streaming over USB. This fixed it, stereo sounds great and happy now - thanks Raymand! |
Every few years, I go through this cycle of having enough of Apple and wanting to switch to Android, but I fail miserably. So with the introduction of the fold 5, I said that is it, I need a bigger screen, and I am switching. I bought one directly from Samsung and plugged it into my 2021 992, and WTH, no Android Auto. I only wanted a WIRED Android auto that is not included ..... what's with that VW???!!!!! I immediately lit the bat signal and reached Raymond, who did the full-screen Apple carplay for me. He said I have two options: trade the car in for a 22 or newer model or allow him to upgrade..... a no-brainer decision, I went to the dealer to trade my 2021 992 for a 2022 model and discovered they had none in stock and they wanted MSRP+ for used ones. So I resorted to option B and called Raymond again. The dude must be a magician, 10 minutes of witchcraft, and the problem is solved. Android Auto works in full-screen mode like a charm.
I highly recommend Raymond; he saved me tens of thousands of dollars (not having to buy a new car). The sad part is, I returned the Fold 5; my entire family and every device I own (except my work PC) are Apple, so having an Android is like voting me off the island. |

Great service, works well
Very satisfied with the service. Only took 20 minutes to get full screen CarPlay on my 2021 992 Targa 4S.

Awesome job, quick and effective!
Congratulations to Innovative Soft and Raymond!
They've done a terrific job that went quickly and flawlessly. They turned my half size screen CarPlay into a whole screen CarPlay in my Porsche 911 (992). It's a pleasure working with Raymond, a very nice, knowledgeable and effcient guy. No need to waste time with others, Innovative Soft and Raymond are the real ones! From France, Marc. |
Do the 2022 come with this stock?
|
Is anyone using AAWireless and care to share their experience? I'm having trouble with the Motorola dongle.
|
Yes , all 992 after 2022 build will come with it as standard option

Just purchased my 2020 Carrera 4S and picked it up Saturday. I was sufficiently underwhelmed at the CarPlay look and feel. So much real estate and Porsche decided to crap the bed on the implementation? Further…no Android Auto on the 2020’s made little sense to me.
Reached out to @innovativesoft to understand what he was offering and took the plunge on the HD version. Booked an appointment to install the next day using Team Viewer and Raymond confirmed the existing Ethernet dongles I had would work. 30 minutes after starting…and voila. CarPlay and AA the way they were meant to look in this screen. Way happier now. Crazy to me that Porsche doesn’t have it set up like this. $600 is a lot of money, but a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the Porsche. Looks great now. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9fbc8cdb6.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4592e193c.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...48b7a7d4c.jpeg |

Is there still nothing to improve PCM6?
ok that has full screen carplay and android, but some more functions like splitting the screen to put the map on one side and climate control options or driving settings on the other? |
The CarPlay screen looks a bit low, like the bottom is cut off by a few pixels. The Android Auto screen seems to have the correct amount of black border on the bottom. Makes the CarPlay one look a bit sloppy and unfinished. Can this be resolved?

Another happy camber here!
did the upgrade with Raymond today and couldn't be happier. MY21 C2S While process took 45min, Thanks Raymond |
PCM5 Whole Screen Apple Carplay
I just finished having the PCM5 Whole Screen Apple CarPlay upgrade installed on my 2020 992. Once my computer cooperated and installed everything I needed, the install was very easy. The screen looks absolutely amazing! Worth every penny. Innovativesoft was easy to deal with, very patient and helpful. I highly recommend this upgrade! I couldn’t be happier.

Raymond just finished installing the Whole Screen Apple Car Play upgrade on my 2021 992. I'm not a computer guy but the process was pretty straight forward, I did need to obtain an ethernet to USB adapter he recommends (about $12 on amazon) but I had the rest of the required items.
Interestingly, my daily laptop must have been too locked down by my company's IT guy because Raymond could not get it to recognize the Ethernet connection. Raymond tried a bunch of different approaches and we ultimately used a cheapo laptop I have just for installing/uninstalling my M Engineering tune and running the PIWIS clone and he got that one to work perfectly. Once that computer cooperated the install was very easy and only took about twenty minutes, as noted above. The screen looks absolutely amazing! This modification is something I should have done a couple years ago and it's certainly worth every cent. Raymond is a complete wizard and he was easy to deal with, very patient and helpful. I highly recommend this upgrade! I couldn’t be happier. Best, Karl |
Yeah, came across a 911 992 with the OEM carplay interface, and it literally looks archaic now to me. Such a nice big screen and they wasted 1/4 of it.
|
Hi
Just wanna chip in my experience with Raymond. Raymond helped install Full Screen Apple Carplay & Porsche Asian maps on my C4S Cabriolet. He's very patient & got the job done in 2 hours approximately. Very responsive & highly recommended. Les |
Are there any videos out there outlining the differences between oem and the upgrade? @innovativesoft was at your site and didn't see any? Maybe this would be useful and a good marketing tool to show people what they'll be getting? Thanks.

It’s just “right” with full screen. What I would have been interested is a video between HD and non HD upgrade as there is a significant price diff! But it is still my favorite upgrade I’ve done as I appreciate the large screen every drive. |

OEM you can obviously look at what came with the car (where 1/4 or 1/3 of the screen is wasted space). In the pics above you can see what it looks like full screen.

I'm assuming PCM5 doesn't have that and thought this might add that. |

Thanls for the clarification. So this is JUST to utilize full screen? Has nothing to do with function?

Or if you’re an Android user this hack will also install Android Auto on a 2020 992/PCM5. |

I don't really like Android Auto. Maybe I'm using it wrong. There's also an issue with sound degradation while using it to play music from my phone.

You need to have the Porsche Connect service subscription, and in my '20 Macan with PCM 5 I also need to wait a minute or two for it to log on. The 'G' icon becomes available at the same time the other apps do. I imagine it works the same in the 992s with PCM 5.

Just tried connecting my Android phone to the car but AA isn’t popping up on the screen as available. Usually an iPhone user so haven’t checked since it was installed weeks ago.
Looking at my phone it shows the below. Have tried a couple different USB cables? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...6d28e22cd1.jpg |

That's insane. So these f*ckers aren't updating software on purpose so they can get paid in perpetuity by bleeding their customers on a subscription model. Thanks, Porsche.
Where I draw the line is when an automaker tries to impose subscriptions for things that don't cost them anything to support, like BMW's attempt to charge subscriptions for CarPlay. That's infuriating enough to make me pick a different car. See also GM. |

Sunday, I decided to switch from Android to iPhone. Since I have no experience with the Apple system and I had issues connecting, I sent a message to Raymond, who promptly replied and helped things get sorted, even though I purchased it a long time ago.
I highly recommend his services. |
I could not be HAPPIER with what @innovativesoft did to my 992 Turbo S with their PCM5 FULL CarPlay upgrade this weekend. First off hats off to Ray! Not only was the process smooth, there was a last minute very minor hiccup due to a connection issue on my end and he had the patience and cleared his schedule to help me manually finish the process, let alone helping me on a weekend. I've had a few 992's with PCM6 so this update was important to me and it's actually blown my mind. I feel as though the connection is even quicker. As soon as my phone connects it goes to full CarPlay mode. The clarity and responsiveness of the update is well worth it in my opinion. VERY happy I ended up finding this thread in the first place. To all who are on the fence, don't think about it too much, just do it, it's worth it!
(Don't mind the phone notifications lol) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...28b2383d02.png |

Just did the install with Raymond...seamless. Went faster than expected...probably 40 min total on my end.
Obviously a lot of technical knowledge is required to make this happen. Interface seems so much cleaner as PCM and CarPlay both fill out in the same proportions. It definitely loads faster and im looking forward to the first navigation. No issues with prompt communication throughout. That is appreciated. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...2f325c77a.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...f2b34cbd9.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a93a31d43.jpeg |
Had this done with Raymond on my Macan GTS. Great company and service. Highly recommend if you’re interested.
|
I had this installed in my 2021 CS4, and Raymond was easy to contact with ‘at the elbow’ support throughout the installation process. Even after the installation, he was readily available the next day for a couple of follow-up questions.
The full screen CarPlay works flawlessly, it seems to boot faster and has been rock solid stable. The aesthetic upgrade is like having a new car, and a feature that Porsche should have had built from day one — it makes the stock pre-PCM6 look downright antiquated. To anyone on the fence, I would recommend it — Raymonds professionalism and expedience service makes the process painless. |
Innovative soft
Raymond at Innovative Soft upgraded my 2018 Panamera to full screen yesterday. The process was quick and easy. I'm very pleased with the entire process, Raymond's knowledge, and his help.
If you are going to have this done to your car you will need the following: -A Specific USB to Ethernet adaptor (Raymond will inform you of the adaptor to obtain. -An Ethernet female connection on your laptop computer. If your laptop does not have one, then you will need a second USB to Ethernet Adaptor. -An Ethernet cable (RJ-45 to RJ-45) -An SD card. Raymond will tell you the capacity. I used a 32 GB. -An SD to USB adaptor if you don;t have an SD slot on your laptop. |
Definitely for sale. Msg me if interested.

hi
another successful Innovative Soft installation. running on a uk 2020 992c2s, as an android user i was pretty fedup with not being able to use waze or spotify properly. it took a bit longer than expected - mainly my fault. internet over via a mobile fone hotspot proved problematic for the vpn which is required, and then we got a flat battery. but we got there in the end. thank you https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-gm?authuser=0 |
