I totally agree with this. If you look at the configurator for the 2023 718, you will see Lava Orange is gone and Arctic Grey has replaced it.

I am very disappointed in the color selections, because you basically have a grey/white/black pallet for most of the colors.
8 colors are black/white/grey and Aventurine Green feels the same to me.

Why do we lack more exciting choices without having to go to PTS?
If you look on the road, it seems that every car is a white/grey/black shade. Should a 911 be like "every car?"

I’m going to be really sad if we lose Lava Orange for ‘23. Especially if all that’s added is another grey.

No.

Ice Grey Metallic is also available now on the 718's.....more than likely with pull over to the 911's.

I’d love to see the stats on the colours that people are ordering their GTS’. Judging by the GTS photo thread, Shark seems popular but seeing very few of Racing Yellow, Lava Orange or Viper Green. I was at an air cooled Porsche event yesterday and loved the variety of colours. Sadly, our roads in the UK are dominated by dull cars that match the overcast sky. That said, if mine was a daily I wouldn’t have been so brave (went Shark).

Colors used to be more popular. People believe that plain colors mean better resale. In actuality plain colors mean *easier* resale, but vibrant colors ultimately provide highest resale. (Source: Hagerty)

Silver and grey are definitely easier to maintain than true colors, which can be a motivating factor in a daily driver. Not sure how relevant that is for most people in a 992. My daily is a Pearl crayon white/grey/silver color. It’s a little boring, but it’s practical.

Otherwise,a lot of people just seem to really like plain colors. Personally, I think pure white cars look like kitchen appliances but to each his own.

So happy to see this thread. For years, I've read posts saying that the 992 looks great in any color, but there are no standard colors offered for this model that I truly love. As Shambler said, it's mostly white or the grey-black continuum (including Aventurine). What's not is mostly a jelly bean color. Think about the absolutely beautiful hues that a company like Aston Martin offers or that Porsche has offered in the past.

I'd order a British racing green 911 in a flash if it was offered other than PTS.

Since I missed at least one, I went back and looked at the 2022 911 vs. the 2023 718 which are both in the configurator.

2022 911......................2023 718
Standard
White.............................White
Black.............................Black
Guards Red..................Guards Red
Racing Yellow...............Racing Yellow

Metallic
Carrara White...............Carrara White
Jet Black......................Jet Black
Agate Grey...................Agate Grey
Dolomite Silver............Frozen Berry
GT Silver.....................GT Silver
Gentian Blue...............Gentian Blue
Aventurine Green........Aventurine Green

Special
Chalk.........................Chalk
Carmine Red.............Carmine Red
Lava Orange.............Arctic Grey
Shark Blue................Shark Blue
Python Green.......... Python Green
.................................Ice Grey

Therefore, it appears we may see:
deletion of Dolomite Silver and Lava Orange
addition of Frozen Berry, Arctic Grey and Ice Grey

That would be my luck. Finally have an allocation and want to order Dolomite Silver. Oh well, we should see sometime next month.

At least on the configurator, Ice Grey looks similar to the Dolomite Silver. Both appear to be cool, bluish silvers whereas GT Silver is warmer.

Fully understand the difficulty and frustration with picking a non-PTS color for the 992. I agonized over this but narrowed down to GT Silver, Agate, Chalk, and Gentian. Eliminated GT Silver as my M5 is a similar color (Donnington Grey); eliminated Chalk as I prefer metallic colors to show the lines of the car better (esp true for carrera models IMO); eliminated Gentian because of the purple hues (although I’ve since realized it shows more purple in the showroom and I think I would have loved GB had I chosen it; ultimately went with Agate which I think pairs extremely well with the black/Bordeaux interior and silver details (trim, wheels, badges). I know some folks don’t like the brown hues of Agate but I actually like the warmth of the grey.

Best of luck and I do really hope they release another metallic blue that’s a bit more conservative than GB. My car below.
