PCM 6.0 Hard Reset?
Thanks in advance. And I promise I've googled and RTFM.
Question: How does one perform a hard reset on the PCM 6.0? I am new to 992 but not to Porsche. In my 991.2 I would periodically need to hard restart the PCM when it would misbehave (e.g. not connect to ACP). In that car one holds down the volume knob for 10-15 seconds with the car in park. I can't figure out how to perform the same operation on the PCM 6.0. Again, thanks for the help. |
Apple CarPlay issues are almost always the phone itself. Restart your iPhone, not your your PCM.

For PCM 5.0 (2020-2021) and I think 2022 PCM 6.0. Have done this on my PCM 5.0 on my 2020 992 C4S (when I traded it in). Have not done this on my 2022 Targa PCM 6.0 - but believe it has the same option when I was fiddling around setting it up.
Go into settings (Gear shaped icon on your PCM): Scroll to the last setting where it says factory reset. Select that. It will ask you to erase all person content confirm or cancel. Select confirm. It will do a full reset and reboot. Of course you have to set up again. I think the other would be to fully disconnect battery for several minutes, reconnect. This should not reset your personal info but will provide a hard reset (like unplugging your PC while running). |
So there's no way to reboot it?
|
Is it possible to see which version of PCM is loaded?
If so how do I display / find the version number ? TIA |

Tap with two fingers as depicted and hold for 2-3 seconds. PCM will enter engineering mode with option to reset PCM.

An update to this.
I needed to reboot my PCM on my MY22 992 since it was acting up not connecting to my iPhone. I got into engineering mode just like it’s documented here. The scroll wheel did allow me to choose between the different menu options, however, pressing it, did not activate the menu item. Even the steering wheel volume control was able to select a menu item, but pressing it as well did not activate it. As a result, I was faced with an unresponsive PCM, and when I turn the car off and locked it, the screen was still on. I was looking at the possibility of running down my battery. However, I discovered that by lightly tapping the PCM screen with the back of my knuckle, a little bit harder than a normal finger press, actually did activate whatever menu item was selected. As such, I was able to highlight the reboot option, knuckle-rap on the PCM screen, and then reboot into normal mode. All seems well now. M |
Yes, PCM 6 is slightly different. The PCM touchscreen remains responsive so that you can select “Reboot to normal mode” and confirm with a finger press.
Only the PCM 5 requires the rotary knob selection and button press to select. One other caution: During the reboot, do not engage Reverse. The Park Assist rear camera (or surround view, if equipped) will display on the PCM screen. This will interrupt the reboot and freeze the system. (I learned this the hard way on my PCM 5). |

BTW if I have PCM 6, why aren’t my icons coloured? M |
