which special color is best for resale
Hi all, I will be picking up what was originally a dealer specced GTS which I was allowed to reconfigure as long as I stayed a) with a special color and b) within more or less the same value of options. At the same time I have received a second allocation for another GTS which I will be able to configure any way I want (going for guards red on this one as I always wanted one in this color). The first GTS would be delivered this fall and the second GTS in spring 2023.
So the plan is to enjoy the first GTS and then sell it before I take delivery of my guards red beauty but which of the "special colors" would be the easiest to resell? At the moment I have it specced in crayon as I believe it might be one of the hotter colors at the moment but I would really like to hear some other opinions on this.
Contrary to what many say, specc the car for yourself, not the next owner... In this case I'm really speccing it for the next owner
Thanks

I think any of them would be pretty easy to resell (current market anyway). Since you might want to sell it back to the dealer (with markup of course) so you could get the tax credit (assuming you are in the states and that is a thing where you live. Not sure where you are located.
But assume you want to sell private - GT Silver, Jet Black, Agate Gray are very popular colors and traditional. Yellow, Shark Blue probably more specific to someone that wants a brighter color. CWM, Dolomite, Agate and Chalk are also good colors.
Really not sure you would go wrong with really external color. The key will be doing a tasteful interior - with no wacky color combos IMO. Nicely optioned of course (it is a GTS). With the GTS many like the CL wheels, and if you want higher resale go with Manual (though more limited market as mostly PDKs are sold). Lastly if it is a Targa it would sell for more as well.

Thanks, not in the states, in Europe so different tax system and not something I could take advantage of.
I have to stick with "special colors" so Chalk/Crayon, carmine, lava, shark and python.
Interior is the GTS crayon and I have swapped the red callipers for gloss black with gloss black everything, carbon fibre roof and mirrors, FAL, etc etc etc far beyond how I would specc it myself
Targa? I wish!

I think Chalk will be the easiest for resale. Carmine suits the GTS well also.
With Shark/Lava/Python, you might be able to get more money if you find the guy who really wants it but your market will be smaller I think.
Right now, you can sell anything on four wheel, so it might not matter as much

I love the bright and wild colors, but I think python will be really tough to sell.
I chose Shark blue with standard race Tex interior for my GTS. But chalk with GTS interior package with the red stitching would look really sporty tied in with the red calipers.

Making the most money vs spending the least time/effort in selling are two different things. There is a time value to money, so this all evens out in the wash, IMO.
Best resale: Yellow
Easiest to sell: Silver, Grey, Blue

For a GTS, go with Lava

If recent sales of 996s and 997s are any indication, yellow is the hottest color in the aftermarket.

It’s a GTS, in this market you can spec it pink with white polka dots and it will get bought. I personally like bright colors on a sports car. My car is Lava and it is an amazing color. Buying based on resell is probably a little damned if you do damned if you don’t. I will not buy a white, gray, or black car for any reason. I don’t even stop at the ad and read the specs or look at the price. It’s a complete non starter for me personally. I’m sure the guys that like the safe colors do the same for the loud colors.
