1st time owner first impressions
I like reading feedback from owners, and now that I have had my car for a week, I wanted to post my initial thoughts. I sold my M2 competition prior to getting into a C2S with manual transmission. I had DCT in the M2 comp, and had a manual OG M2 prior to the M2 comp with DCT.
Options I am glad I got:
1. gentian blue-- I really like the color. I went back and forth on color a lot before my build locked. I wanted a blue. I liked midnight blue, but wasn't able to order it. I like all the colors to be honest, so it was a matter of finding what I could live with day-to-day. I like the way it changes color and the purple hues are subtle and not a bad thing. My second choice would have been GT silver. I've attached pics next to my wife's tanzanite blue X5. They are very similar.
2. Rear axle steering-- I wasn't going to get it initially, but I am glad I did. You notice it (in a good way). I would definitely spec it again. If I never got it, I'm sure I would still love the car, but glad I chose it.
3. PCCB-- love the brake feel and minimal brake dust is a plus.
4. Front axle lift-- I have a small dip where the road and my driveway meet. I sometimes scrapped the front of the M2 if I wasn't careful. The fact the lift remembers location and lifts automatically is nice. I would get it again.
5. Extended range tank-- The M2 had a 13 gallon tank and I was always filling up. Nice to have a bigger tank
6. 7-MT-- I love this manual transmission. I had a few manual BMW cars, and the most recent M2 comp with DCT. I liked the DCT, but wanted to get back into a manual. Love this 7-MT and glad I spec'd it. I would love a PDK car too, but if I can only have one 911, I'm glad I went with manual
Things I would maybe pass on next time:
1. alcantara roof liner. It's nice, but I would be fine without it and would have saved some money
2. 930 leather package. I went with black leather with black stitching, so it doesn't stand out that much. It looks great, but again, could have saved the money
Disappointments:
1. PCM-- it really seems like it should work better. BMW is much better, and even my Ford F150 has a better infotainment system. At least car play works and overall, it does what it needs to do. I had read negative feedback about PCM on here, and I agree that it seems like it should be better than it is
Overall, I love the car. My M2 competition was great and I was worried the cost of upgrade might not be worth it, but it was definitely worth it. I sold the M2 after 2 years for MSRP so I drove that for free, which was great. Hope to keep the C2S for at least a few years before considering something else. Going to get PPF so I can drive it hard and not worry too much about paint. No real mods planned.

One thing you will notice if you haven't already being a first-time 911 owner, is the marvelous mechanical symphony that comes from the back of the car. No BMW (and I have owned seven of them) ever sounds like that, and it becomes part of the character of the car that you will look forward to on startup and driving. The M2 Comp is a great car, I spent quite a bit of time in one at the BMW Performance Center in California this past December - and I love it on the track events. The Porsche is a step above that car however - as it should be at nearly twice the price. Few people ever regret getting into a 911 - welcome to Porsche-world.

Nice build- Enjoy!!!!
Yeh- Porsche certainly not so great with their Tech stuff. Far behind other's but their Engineering is where they shine.
I guess many Companies can hide their engineering flaws with a bunch of Techy stuff. I will take the Engineering first.

Not shabby at all first 911! Heck if they would do a PCM delete I'd check the box. I hardly listen to the sound system in any of my wheels or fool around with setting once I do the initial configuration. I like the drive itself instead.

Thanks for the write up & congrats on the car. My Gentian C4S locks in 16 days. I want the PCCBs for the brake dust delete but that’s an expensive want for a car that won’t see the track. I’m doing red accents inside to match the red brakes. Not to mention the fact that my SA said it would delay my build for who knows how long at this point. So I passed. I wanted my wife to get Tanzanite on the X7 we ordered for her a few months ago, but she prefers Arctic Gray, so happy wife and stuff. Thanks for the photo of the 2 cars next to each other—I have not seen that before and it was quite interesting and informative to see the side by side difference. I’ve also ticked the boxes for RAS and FAL and glad that I did. Enjoy your car in good health and drive it like it was meant to be driven!

Thanks for writing this. I’m coming from an OG manual M2 so it’s pretty relevant to me.
gB looks great!

Like you I am a first time Porsche owner and have a base 911 with SC and PSE.
I’ve had the car 3 months and really like it !!!
Here are my observations:
PCM is abysmal - worse than my wife’s Lexus - and that is dreadful.
The PCM has a mind of its own - sometimes Apple play boots sometimes not. Sometimes homelink works, most times not.
I have a PSE on the Porsche but my previous AMG sports exhaust puts the Porsche exhaust to shame. My neighbor even said I don’t hear your new car !!!
I have 20/21 Spyder rims and regular brakes. I simply use a self serve pressure wash to clean the rims once a week and brake dust is not a problem.
I don’t think cabin noise is excessive and exterior noise is minimal.
Coming from 3 previous Mercedes AMG’s I don’t think the suspension is harsh even with 20/21 rims.

“PCM is abysmal - worse than my wife’s Lexus - and that is dreadful.”
I complain about my wife’s Acura like this. I’ve had my 911 for a couple of weeks and the PCM is orders of magnitude better than Acura’s. I was expecting far worse based on many of the opinions here.

The various UI's in car these days all have their quirks and idiosyncrasies -- some worse than others, some better than others.
People generally like the UI that they used first and "grew up" with the best.
For me, that was the BMW iDrive, which to this day I still find to be the best implementation of user interfaces in modern tech cars.

BMW has been at it longer than most. Their first iterations were hammered by the reviewers. they learned and improved. I think iDrive is really good now. Having a dial is so much better (to me) than having to look down and touch a screen.

or have to try and use a touch pad a’la Mercedes MBUX. Give me a multi-dimensional dial any day.
