Default Steering Column Casing Leather

Hello all, wanted to ask your thoughts on the "steering column casing leather", would you say its an option that is worth it to get? How much does it enhance the interior? Any pros and cons to getting it? Currently my base 992 build is Chalk exterior with two tone Black and Bordeaux red interior (not sure if this interior already comes with deviated stitching or not as I can't really tell from the config so would be great if someone can confirm this for me as well).

Thank you very much.

Sad, as my build was over the top for C2S but I still regret not getting this.

I have it on my Spyder. I didn't order it for my 992. It's not really noticeable IMO. I'm sure others will say that it's necessary.

I think that it isn't necessary, especially if you have an interior that comes with a black steering wheel and upper dash. It you have an all red or all grey interior the leather steering column matching might be nice.

I didn't spec it on my 991 with espresso interior or on my 992 with black/iceland and I've never felt like I was missing anything by not having it (and I ticked a LOT of options boxes, including some admittedly silly ones).

As with many things, it's totally personal preference and depends upon what your vision for your car is.

If you've gone for the 930 leather package, extended dashboard and door panel leather package and inner door sill guards in leather, then "yes" you should get it in order to continue that extra leather look in your car.

If the aforementioned are not on your spec sheet, there's probably little need for this. Again, it's all personal preference and what the look and feel of what you want your interior to be, for YOU.

You're spending >100K in the car. Is $500 more an issue?
IMO, it looks great. And yes, black/bordeaux comes with red stitching (over black leather) in the doors, dashboard and other places, just not the seats.

I have a black leather interior with chalk stitching and don’t notice the steering column at all… nor do I notice that my passenger side cup holder isn’t covered in leather either. I think both of these options are better skipped and the cost spent on more noticeable stuff. Some people are OCD about stuff like this and if that’s you, then you should definitely cover the steering column and, while you’re at it, do the cup holder in leather too.

A monumental waste of money. But get it if it floats your boat. Same goes for leather fusebox cover, or passenger cupholder. The list of pure profit add-ons is endless. I know, as I got a few of them.

I think the leather steering column actually looks out of place. The top of the steering wheel itself is plastic; so it actually transitions to the column more naturally with the standard plastic column. Just my .02

After 6 months with the car you won't even notice its there, same as Deviated Stitching or "Crests in Headrests". I sure don't notice that stuff. Spend the money on REAL options that work every time you driver the car, like Rear Wheel Steering and PDCC. or PCCB brakes. Those you will notice.

I have it on truffle interior. I like it and think it really is only makes a difference on builds with non-black uppers. I got it because over the years people said they regretted not ordering it. I would get it again on a colored interior.

This basic part is on every vehicle. I suggest 99.9% of the vehicles use plastic for this part. These type of leather parts are, in my opinion, befitting of a Bentley or other hi end luxury vehicles. Porsche offers it as people pay for these and the profit margin is huge. Most people, if they understood that Porsche was making $500 profit on a $540 item, would realize that there is not much value to the consumer. Only go for these items when they really wow you.

You won't notice it after the second time you drive the car.

I notice my 930 leather. I can't imagine noticing this. I think that is money far better spent.
