The good thing aboui red is that its an easy color to accessorize . Carmine for example is the promo color . it's also nice but doesnt match the red calipers . Yellow ceramic on Carmine spark an image of Ronald McDonald to me . Guards on the other hand matches and does well with ceramics . It also can save me from buying the GTS package (expensive but I love it) because all it needs are red belts and race tex . I am in the low 150's vs the high 150's heading to the mid 160's with a different color . I think the risk aversion would lead to me speccing the car leaner just in case I cant deal it as a DD.
Mind you .. I love white and silver but the idea of breaking out of my range with color is the mid life crisis that I never had .
Still.a chicken though to take risks at the 150+K price point on anything.

My wife likes the lava . So do I but its not my favorite of the bright colors . I wonder to myself if I saw it every day that I might get tired of it . As a part time color .. absolutely !!!

Shark, Mexico. Miami , Riviera -- all look nice . I actually think they look better on a larger car like a Macan GTS or a smaller car like a Cayman . I dont know why on a 911 I lose interest . Somewhere in the back of my mind I do see this shade of blue and think " Smurf" . It stops me every time .

My 2022 C2S Cab (delivery in January) will be GR. If a 911 does not come in bright colors, what would…

I have a question . I have only owned one car in a color other than black white or silver in my life . It was my first car and I was 17 and it was red . I am too old now to remember things about it. I have asked two people so far who have a guards red 911 :
1) Person 1 - only had one red car long ago but two years ago he found a perfect spec car on a. lot and it was red so he bought it . He still has the car, has no regrets, and said its a great choice.
2) Person 2 - Has a 2014 911 so he has owned it for years . He loves the color but did express that it does show the dirt . He said not as much as black but close enough to be reminded of black maintenance . Has that been your experience ?

I had Carmine Red once. Beautiful color but ruthless in showing swirls. Any solid, non metallic color is going to be tough with that. Carmine is a bit darker which doesn’t help.

I love this thread !! Yet I have this moment that I look at white or Gt silver and its an emotional tug of war . I love those too and they are so different . Its amazing that there are no bad colors for a 992 but picking one is really hard . Whats even worse is having months until the GTS comes out . I have to say some people love ordering a car . I have more of a love/hate thing with it . There is a certain joy in convenience of a lot car which might have too many options are even miss a few that are not "must have" . It wipes away all of tis OCD configurator internal struggle with everything from the color right down to the way a caliper might not match the interior . Its sickness and yet this thread brought out some really adventurous car color choices that truly look great !!

in terms of visibility of swirls and stuff, it is more noticeable than my white and silver cars but, again, not anywhere close to black cars or dark blue ones. It is also highly dependent on the type of lighting. Incandescent lights tends to hide swirls better on my red cars than fluorescent lights.
Bottom line is, I have found my 4 red cars, on average, easier to maintain. A bit more work than white and silver but easier than all of my dark cars. In terms of how they look without washing, I think red looks cleaner than my white and silver cars with the same amt of dirt on them and, of course 10x cleaner than black. So, IMO, this is a complete non-issue.

And I agree with you. It's really only the high-line of cars that begin with Porsche that can pull off these colors. What good is buying a Porsche if you don't add a little whimsy to it???
