What kind of money do you earn that you bought yourself a new 992?

Ok... totally anonymous poll here... (I guess Rennlist can technically figure out who you are), but I had a friend at work ask me "How can you afford a $170K car?" ... my response is I saved for a long time, it's been a life long dream and that I don't buy cars like this every couple of years like some might.. I make a good salary but certainly not that high by Bay Area high tech standards. I have no real debt however and feel like it's very much financially justifiable..

Curious however, on a world wide basis (so convert your income to US$)... what peoples income is that buy these cars? And if maybe some just have "Family money"

He's not your "friend". Friends don't ask stupid questions like that.

Crack and hoes pays well, but do you really think I will be honest about just how well it does? Not when the IRS could be watching. Pimps that got it going on will tell you they don't make jack. Players wanna being playas be telling you all day long how much they make . . . well, wish they be making. At least crack and hoes has benefits when the night/business is slow . . .

i have three kids, feeling very poor is not a new feeling.

The poll just reminded me that once upon a time, $100k pa was enough to live happy and drive a sweet ride. 🙃

two kids here.. both in college.. Mostly funded this but the expenses still roll in. That said, I think if I didn't live in the SF Bay Area (thank God I bought back in 1994)... I'd live like a king on my salary in Texas, or Tennessee..

As I have noted on other threads, no one on RennList is “poor”. Everyone’s circumstances are different, but at the end of the day, this is an affluent crowd. We are all more/less hardworking and/or extremely lucky.

One of the great things about the Porsche owner community/culture is the lack of “flex”, something unfortunate and prominent with many other luxury/exotic brands. I love the socioeconomic demographic diversity of enthusiasts for the marque — demonstrated by the results of this poll.

Respect and props to everyone and their fine taste in good toys. 👍

try building some air cooled hot rods and you'll know what its like to be poor.

Indeed. That’s a big dollar table to play at. Perhaps, I should have been clearer. 🤣

My worth and income is no ones business.

Totally agree. I find it interesting and bizarre that so many millennials share this kind of thing. It’s counter to how I was raised. It’s not a good kind of “transparency”.

And I've never been asked about it when buying a Porsche. But it always seems to be one of those, "Oh this is just something we have to ask," questions I get from a salesperson when buying a BMW.

Net worth might be more relevant. Some HENRY with massive debt shouldn't be buying a 911.
