Default Navigation without Cellular Data

I am planning a trip to areas that have marginal to no cellular coverage. I’m not sure if there is an actual GPS receiver integrated with the PCM. Documentation seems to infer that cellular data is required. Will navigation still function?

Nav will work without phone reception because it uses a satellite reciever. The documentation might be referring to traffic updates perhaps. In any case I recommend downloading the maps to your phone, just in case. On my iphone I followed this guide:

Just to be on the safe side download the map of the area you are visiting on your mobile through Google Maps. So, whatever will happen, you will have a navigator with you

I'm driving a German spec, and mine does have GPS and map data stored, works offline.

PCM navigation maps live in your car. You will even catch updates being downloaded on occasion.
