Is that just stomp & go or was there a warmup procedure required for the Tesla beforehand?
Also, maybe this is just my own personal experience, but has anyone ever seen someone out there driving their Tesla aggressively like it was a sports car? I only ever see random Teslas here and there poking around town in traffic.
No warmup procedure for the Tesla Model 3 P. (I assume that's the car used). Just stomp & go.
The Model 3s handle pretty well and I've seen people drive them like sports cars.

indeed they do. i believe a tm3 beat a bmw m3 around a track early last year. it's hard to accept, but the teslas are really very good cars. we are replacing the family hauler with a model y this year. we loved the model 3, which tesla dropped off and let us test for a few days. it has more usable power than my 911 - instant squirt is very useful and quite addictive.
i can't think of a good reason to buy any other premium sedan in that price range. if you look at a graph of sales, tesla's is an inverse of bmw/audi/mercedes, all of whos sales have fallen off a cliff in the last couple years. it seems the general populous agrees.
It was frustrating to watch as an upcoming 911 owner. Thoughts?
don’t be sad. The 911 is a much better package and all around car, as long as you don’t mind the price gap. The low end torque of the 992 is fabulous. I’m happy to see the turbos migrate down the line to Carreras.
tesla’s super power isn’t making crazy fast cars. A 991 turbo will smoke it. But what they have done at perf / $ is truly astounding. You need an ice car at 2x the price to compete. Revolutionary even. For your basic daily drivers, EVs are the future. But there’s a reason why BMW car sales, especially 3 series, are cratering so bad they might have been nuked from orbit while at the same time the 911 is doing pretty well and Porsche’s most profitable per unit line. Tesla’s compete more with BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
The fit and finish, luxury, and build quality, between the two cars, is wildly different. Porsche is way better.
To be honest, the fact that the 911 can keep up says more about the 911 than it does about the Model 3, because the Model 3 P is a VERY fast car in straight line performance.
I’d like to see a track comparison in the twisties, but I suspect the 911 would win.

agree. The bmw 3 series is done unless they make some dramatic changes. No way I would buy a regular 3 series over a model 3. Have seen zero new bmws in the parking lot at work, and 4 new Teslas.

My M5 competition value has similarly plummeted. I’m never buying an ICE sedan again. 911 seems to hold steady. There is no alternative that nails it like Porsche.
Something must be wrong with me. I bought a new BMW 750i xDrive last year and I absolutely love it. But I got it for more than $20k below MSRP because they wanted to get it off the showroom floor, which surprised me as it was 2019 model with only 6 miles on the odometer.
I imagine if this was a C4S the story would have been much different in the drag race...
Same result. The C4S numbers aren't all that different from the C2. Now, if they'd added a nice chicane in there, our beloved Carrera would've certainly kicked Tesla *** . . .
Curious why the 992 only managed an 11.7 quarter mile and got smoked in the 0-60, it looked like the start was about equal. It should be at least a half second faster than a Model 3 in both tests, according to every magazine testing I've seen. Unless it was a manual or he was using paddles poorly?
But agreed, this video did not give me warm fuzzy feelings.
The model 3P got a 5%!power upgrade over the air a couple of months ago which this car had and prior tested cars didn't...
what about the braking from 70mph?!! That was disappointing ...
