992 needs RAS or not?
 

Knownig the steering has already became more direct vs 991 (10%), does 992 take much advantage of RAS rear axle steer for road driving? I.e. Is it more fun to drive with RAS? Per Janko Lind, see at 8:25, is does not seem to need it: Anybody drove a 992 with and without RAS to compare?

I fear a potential unnatural feel, the extra weight on the back and complexity.

This is a question I would also like answered. My 991.2 4S doesn't have it but I test drove a 2S with RAS and the 2 felt worlds apart. The comparison you've suggested is what we need.

I did a test drive with and without RAS ... you can really feel the difference but in the end I did not opt for RAS as the car is already that good and corners so well that I did not see the need. I will be using my car as a daily driver with only the occasional circuit visits ... It's a nice to have option but I agree with Janko Lind ... it's not a must.

I think it's a must-have. I'll sell it to you from a safety perspective. The day I was driving back from the dealership after receiving the car, some guy was backing his trailer out across the highway. I had little time to react. I jerked the wheel to cross the double yellow line to avoid the trailer. The RAS makes the car FAR more agile. And sometimes, inches matter.

I just spent a hole day at the Porsche test track in Leipzig in a 992 CS equiped with RAS. After 60+ laps of their FIA circuit, I can unequivocally say that I don't know why anybody would hesitate, even for a second, to order this option. It is simply a better car with it.
- The lane change stability at high speed is phenomenal..and safer
- Corner turn-in is much sharper
- Turning circle is brilliant. The car a bus without it.

There is a reason why the GT cars...and other manufactures models....are now equiped with RAS.

I too would like to know. Hopefully someone can chime in with regular, day to day, driving. I don’t doubt it has its advantages, but will the average driver need/miss it?

I'll say it again. This isn't like PDCC or PTV which one barely notices it. RAS is 30% noticeable.

My 991.2 carrera T has it and I love it ! Period. When road driving on back twisty roads it is simply unreal. It make the car feel shorter and with the larger body and frame I would 100% take this option. When the manual 992 comes out it will be a very hard decision for me to keep my T and I will not dream to not order the 992 gt3 with out it. RAS, PSM are all drivers options so skip the glass roof and get a porsche with its most valuable drivers options.

I have RAS on my 2017 C2S and absolutely love it. I feel it adds to the cars capabilities at all speeds, including the parking lot. I will be ordering a 992 soon and it will have RAS.

I also saw the initial video reviews (and more recently Janko Lind) saying RAS is not as impactful on 992 as it was on earlier cars - so I did not order it for my pure daily driver.

However the much more recent actual owner experiences of 992s (and highly effusive 991 owners with RAS) make me regret not ordering this feature above all other options that I skipped. It really sounds like an obvious benefit at all speeds and it will definitely be on my next 911 in a few years.

If one wants a modern 911 driving experience, the RAS is nearly a must-have.

For those that want an old school purist 911 experience, the RAS is just added weight and added numbers to the MSRP.

Yes you need it, I ordered with RAS om mine and have now tried 992 on track with and without. Must have.

well i skipped the rear view camera and sunroof with the logic that RAS should reduce the chance of a kerbed alloy!
