Yay or Nay to silver window trim
I'm noticing some of the 992s are being built with silver window trim. Retro? Just finishing last minute details on my GT Silver C2S build
scheduled to be built July 5. Yay or nay on silver window trim. Will have the RS Spider wheels like the photo.
Thanks!

I ordered a silver C2S as well. Same dilemma... specially after seeing it on a few 992 pictures. Ultimately I opted not to go with it. At first I thought it might make it look even more high end but started noticing every car these days has the trim, even entry level cars. Another reason I didn’t order it was because in my opinion it might make the windows look smaller (less black) which makes the pillars look chunkier. It does look nice, specially on darker color cars in which it highlights the lines nicely. But on silver, given my observations, I opted not to go with it.

What wheels are you going with?

I ordered one in Carmine Red and I was tempted to go with it based on how it looked on the configurator. My dealer strongly suggested I delete on my final spec, for some of the reasons you mentioned. In the end, I'm glad I did.

Congrats on the 992 build. I was just in London and had a chance to see one in-person.
As to your question, I'm not a fan of chrome anything. When I look at the GT3 Tourings I find those with black window trim so much more appealing than the chrome. I don't want that bit to stand out and chrome just calls too much attention to it.

I say yes, I love the classic look. But only if with a classic looking silver wheel. I have never had them on my GTS or current GT3 as both with black wheels but if I swap to a 992 I will spec either blue, green or grey with the silver trim and wheels. very nice. Depends what look you're after. To be honest, there are no bad looking 911's.

With your spec I'm 80/20 in favor of it.
Dark color car - almost certainly no.
Tinted windows - no.
Black wheels / any color car - cannot imagine it working.
Lighter color car, not black interior (especially club leather), silver or silver trim wheels, I think it can look great.
Good luck with it all.

2014 Carrera S with black window trim
There are many different looks one can achieve in building their own new 911 - having experienced the Carrera pictured above and then a 2015 911 GTS, I would go for a classic look with silver window trim and wood interior - dolomite silver, genetian blue or even the adventurine green

Whether the silver window trim looks "good" or "bad" depends on two things, IMHO: The color of the car and whether you want yours to look retrospective -- i.e., the way 911s first appeared in the late 60s and early '70s. It all comes down in your sense of aesthetics, what appeals to you.

chrome trim NEVER looks good on ANY color, tacky and sticks out like a sore thumb
