992 interior making me envious
I have a 991.2 GTS and a Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid Sport Turismo. I didn’t really pine for a 992 until I got the Panamera and it was all because of the cockpit. The new glass dash and touch sensitive center console that Porsche is moving to is really good, although I’m not totally sold on the center console itself because I do like actual buttons. I get in my GTS now and feel like I am stepping down in interior. The big display and new PCM software is as good as they have ever delivered but I advise that you need to sit in your driveway for 30 minutes to go through it instead of learning while driving. Despite the differences, Porsche does a great job of delivering continuity across models and generations. The Panamera feels very much like a Porsche inside.
Some will say the interior is second to the performance, a distraction. These are equal part luxury and performance cars now and Porsche is really stepping up their game on interior materials, fit-and-finish, and details like the knurled buttons. Oddly enough, the Sport Chrono **** on the steering wheel is still black plastic despite all the other ***** and dials having a distinctive metal finish. I would like Porsche to make this feature more distinctive, like the Manettino dial on Ferrari steering wheels.
For 991.x owners on the fence about the 992, I would put it to rest. Aside from the oddly-shaped PDK shifter (why not just go all buttons at this point?) the 992 interior is a big step up.

From the pictures and videos, the 992 interior looks like a step down to me. Nubbin, giant cup holder, and horizontal ledge (for what? to collect dust) are the main things I don’t like. I’m sure the tech on the screens is better, but not enough of a difference for me. After all, I’m driving, not playing on my iPad.
If you are envious, buy the 992.
If you are envious, buy the 992.

I agree with this. The shaver shift **** does not bother me, but the giant cup holder reminds me of a SUV (why do you even need this big ugly obtrusive thing), the horizontal ledge is much too retro for a modern sports car, as are the 60's toggle switches. The digital gauges may be high tech, but I prefer the look of the standout 991 gauges. There really is not too much I like about the interior, except the door pull.

If it's okay for 991 owners, Boxster owners, 997 owners, etc. to post their hate of the 992 on the 992 forum, then why can't a 991 owner post positive 992 comments on the 991 forum?

I don't think the OP should be roasted for posting a positive comment. There so much mudslinging here why beat him up.
You don't have to agree but he doesn't have to be banished to another forum. Lighten up.
I don't like it based on the pics either but I have not see in person.

Lol at the triggered 991 owners. I don’t love everything about the 992 interior but without a doubt 991 interior feels aged after sitting in the 992 (and it’s not just the tech).

There is a 992 Forum for a reason.
