I've yet to drive an EPAS car that felt as good as a $35,000 BMW from 2007, let alone better.

Yes, that is one area where there appears to be much agreement that 997 is better.

Why is it that many 992 white chevaliers have only a handful of posts? Curious, I guess they are new to the brand? If so, great marketing success if they end up being enough to bump the sales...
On topic now, yes there is resistance to change, but yes the 992 is uglier, so deal with it

FYI I'm new to the forum, not the brand. Pardon the low post count. I grew up in the backseat of a 911 and have two. I finally joined to share my enthusiasm for the 992 with others. I'm sure there are other new members out there in a similar situation, where the new car re-ignited the Porsche passion.. What I wonder sometimes if I'm in the wrong forum; there's a lot of 991 owners here knocking on the 992 at every opportunity.
What I'd like to know is what specially is it about the 992 that "re ignited the passion" that the 991 gen somehow missed?

On the "knocking", maybe some just don't like it, or some don't understand the fact that other people seems to like it over their beloved cars, or some are still sour because all the closed threads that allowed them to rant harmlessly on it... mysteries of life.

Then what are we left with? Could it be possible that the people you disagree with on the 992 just see things as they are or in a more pragmatic way?
Is it possible that those who love the 992 have a problem with :
1. Irrationality
2. Insecurity
There is a lot of psychology behind purchase motivation and for the many impulsive types who believe that newer is always better they can be easily triggered emotionally by all the marketing that Porsche is so famous for.

Also new here but already drive a Porsche and grew up with one. Ended up here as I was looking for advice/input(experience to help me spec a 992. Most can of course be learnt from 991 owners

I think most of the posts I’ve seen are fair and respectful. Also, please note the original post, which essentially invites the responses we’ve seen here that the 997 to 991 change is a different beast from the 991 to 992 change.
At the end of the day, it’s a car forum and there should be healthy (and hopefully fun) discussion that no one takes personally since it’s just a car, even though an excellent one. I would give some credit to 991 owners who may just be expressing frustration at Porsche because they really care about the 911 and the 992 just doesn’t meet their standards. I would say to 992 owners, congratulations, and as long as you like it, good for you. Who cares what others say?
And I would say to all, these are first world problems. We’re all lucky to own 911s.
