Default Nubbin Prediction

I predict that Porsche will come out with a "Classic" PDK shift lever as an $1,030 option. $1,420 if you go for the chrome one and $1,980 for the carbon fiber, but the carbon fiber will only be available if you opt for carbon fiber throughout the car, and only during September production time.

My prediction is that the GT3 will have a different shifter.

The problem with that idea is the nubbin is not equipped to shift gears. Thus, swapping out the nubbin for the "Classic" gear shifter would be a cosmetic improvement only, not a functional upgrade. #savethePDKgearshifter

I have been hoping for such an option from the day I saw the first interior spy shot.
However, I would only spec it if it allowed me to manually shift with the lever again.

great. you pay for an option that was supposed to be standard.

Porsche should do that more often to any part of car.

They will get rid of it altogether as per McLaren and Ferrari.

I don’t think Porsche will do anything unless there is a more vocal outcry. And the time for that to happen is once the 992 is shipped to dealers in late spring/early summer. I was one of the more vocal individuals urging caution on forming opinions until you could actuually see the car and sit in it. So I finally saw the car and sat in it and: (i) the ‘nubbin’ is ridiculous looking and (ii) the rest of the interior is not much better.

I wonder how many PDK guys shift with the shifter rather than paddles?

I have both and use what ever when ever the mood hits. I like the way the 991 shifter works and looks, too.
Would the nubbin keep me out of a 992 if I decided I really wanted the all around marginal performance advantages it offers over my 991.1 C2S (and I decided I could forgo the sound of its PSE)?
Nah.

There was a thread about this in the 991 forum a while ago. The majority of those who shifted manually used the paddles. Keep in mind, I suspect that the vast majority of PDK owners don't manually shift at all.
