What to do to cover the piano black plastic around PDK?
Good morning gentlemen, while waiting my 992 and my Tesla M3, both having piano black surfaces in the center console, I was wondering how to handle them.
No problem on the M3 as the sureface has no buttons or anything similar, so I will cover them with a special matte black wrap (the same I used to cover my Targa rollbar to look likes the GTS's).
But with the 992? Do you think it will possible to do something similar? I mean, maybe a transparent wrap to prevent fingerprints at least, since there is the temperature display? A matte wrap is impossible to do I guess...

I would probably buy some random matte adhesive foil, trace the edges to have the exact measurement of the glossy part, cut it and put it on.
Adhesive foil like the following is fairly cheap and worth a try:

1st pic is the future. 2nd is the past.
I personally dont care for any buttons or '5' gauges.
They are all redundant.
Technometer will be completely gone cus all cars will be eletric. "RPM" will be obsolete cus there's no engine.
"Look, I can rev my engine to 9000" <--- this phrase will be a joke in 10 years.

Just sat in the new car...there isnt really very much piano black. I bet they will have a CF or painted option soon. Shifter is tiny.

Shifter is just a little larger “toggle” switch in appearance from the pictures I have seen. I will be interested to see in person since I plan to order a new 992 soon.

Dr. Ice, don’t order the car until you’ve seen it in person. I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I thought the exterior was very good, but the interior was cheap looking.

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking the 992 interior was going to make my 991.2 look dated. This was a big reason I was looking to upgrade. My dealer will be getting one in soon so I will be anxious to see it in person. Thanks again.

There is nothing to 'handle'. Just drive the car.

Thats a great solution for real piano black trim (which I actually love) like the optional piano black you can order on the M5
The center console is not piano black trim... its just plastic... so towel gets rid of fingerprints but doesn't stop it from looking like a cheap interior.
