Since I live in Orange County and don't drive to LA often in my 911...and I do not attract LEO by driving conservatively...I have foregone a front license plate for the past 10 years on my 911's...now that front license plate tickets are not "fix-it" tickets with $500 cost....I guess my next 2020 911 will have a front plate...I understand Orange County LEO's are going to start enforcing ....just rumor.
Question to the group???...Can I use a Euro License plate (front only) with correct colors and numbers/letters reflecting my actual registered license plate registration in place of California issued plate?
I hate all front license plates...but the longer / narrower euro license plate looks better to me...Please advise me if this is a good idea and likely to pass LEO attention --
Better off with no plates at all than a Euro one with your #'s ..
Don't they sell stickers you can buy that look like state plates? Anyway, they'd probably have issues with that too.

California makes it hard to love her...like a beautiful woman than knows she is beautiful...she makes up her own rules and expects everyone to play by them not matter how dumb and short sighted...
i'm Recently married...It only took 10 minutes to get married...it takes well over 2-4 hours to register a car here...not start a Casino or open a bank...registering a car!! If the state did any analysis on time spent by employees of CA DMV and time spent by customers of DMV registering cars (new and sometimes renewal) we all lose money!!!
Last renewal, my 911 needed a smog...went to licensed CA DMV inspection station and 2 mechanics refused to complete as they could not do a "visual inspection" of motor (which is concealed by design by Porsche--as we all know , opening the rear access panel only shows fan covers and fluid covers)...so off to the dealer to do smog @ $145 ---btw ---my car is 100% stock ...no exhaust...nada)
Can't speak for California, but I won't be installing a front plate on my car, would rather pay the fines. I made the mistake on my 991 and I hated the fact that they had to drill the plate holder into the front bumper and messed up her beautiful face.

I wouldn't.
Some people in TX run those. They **** off the cops more than not having a plate, and you can get a citation for running a fraudulent registration device. Better to run without a plate at all as was said.

There are many ways to mount a front plate on a 991 without drilling the bumper.

I suggest you don't bother with that Euro style plate because you will still get a ticket. The law says that you must display the "state issued" plates at all times. So, if you have something different, you will get a ticket as if you don't have one.
Probably more likely to get a ticket with a fake plate than no late at all. I've gone without front plates on all my cars for 25 year in California, with zero issues. The chance you're going to get pulled over just for no front plate is slim to none. I'll believe the cops are enforcing it when it actually happens. Every time we have a big new law, they say they're going to enforce it, but they never do. The cops in CA are so understaffed that they barely have enough resources to handle all the accidents and write moving violations.
I'm going to keep going without a plate until I get multiple tickets. I drove illegally in the clog pool lane every day for a decade and never got a single ticket.

You are so right. Also in So Cal, specifically the westside of L.A., is not at all forgiving. Beverly Hills and West Hollywood are notorious for giving no front plate tickets as they both have a lot of red light cameras in full force.

ive gone 11 years on the west side of LA with no front plate with no issue (furiously knocking on wood)

But did either of those plate tickets arise from getting pulled over solely for that reason, or was it an add on when you got pulled over for speeding or running a red light? I've never, ever heard of a cop pulling anyone over solely for a plate violation around here.

No, I meant those cities tend to give tickets for a missing front plate because they have the cameras and they want to make sure everyone can get cited for running the red light.
Dang! And I just bought a house in Pasadena. Moving from no-front-plate Pennsylvania early next year. On the plus side, driving the car with a front plate in February is better that having it sit in the garage where it's been all week.
