992 At The Chicago Auto Show?

Will it be there in February? Anyone know.

Thanks.

WI-Ing 01-05-2019 08:53 PM

NO - according to their website: https://www.chicagoautoshow.com/vehi.../porsche/911-/

$13 saved!

murox 01-05-2019 10:50 PM

What about Detroit? Will the 992 be there?

Dan Nagy 01-06-2019 05:49 PM

It's currently not showing to be at the D.C. auto show in April. Too bad. I wonder why? Maybe they are doing individual dealer roll-outs.

911boy 01-07-2019 02:34 PM

Its supposed to be in Toronto in Feb

Wha?! Huge miss. Was hoping to get another dealer invite to a pre-show. No point in going now.

This is one of a few articles that I came across last week which may provide some insight.

pay to play and only way to get the wife to go, but I’d dont want wife with me anyway complaining while I’m in deep group conversations about torque vectoring

its also more for people who don’t go out much. If you live downtown and are out twice a week nothing special

Nah. I went last year in jeans and a sweatshirt.

Then again, I am very poorly presented at all times.

Last years show was a disappointment, would pass and save your time. Added note that Porsche kept the cars locked

Well, last didn't have the 992. This year it does. So I'm going. That's the whole purpose of this thread.

Lex.....there's a strong possibility you'll see the Yellow car we got in H-Town. Porsche wasn't even on the floor map this year and yet they were there with a new "Pepper", Pano, Macan, and the 992.......Phil

Aw man, it is not going to be in the DC show. I was really looking forward to it.

Who told you that it won't be there? just wondering?

LexVan 02-06-2019 09:43 AM

BIG day tomorrow:

1) Volunteer work at Feed My Starving Children in the AM
2) Early dinner at Monteverde. Having the Ragu Alla Napoletana- fusilli rustico, cacciatore sausage, soppressata meatball, braised pork shank. It's a m a z i n g!
3) Chicago Auto Show in the PM.

FutureClassic 02-06-2019 01:00 PM

Going to the Auto Show event tomorrow evening as well. Excited to see this in the flesh and meet some fellow RL-ers!

uniqueMR 02-06-2019 02:04 PM

They need to keep DOORS unlocked.
I am ordering next week so will be at CAS this weekend to check out 992 :)

Purrty nose.
Doors unlocked guys! Very similar to the 991s. The nubbin is all that gives me pause.

There is a color board of the familiar on-line offerings. It's really cool to be here with almost no one to trip over.

Phefner, did you hear the Acura security guy yelling at people for going to look at the new NSX? He said something to the effect "Hey, you guys got passes to the wrong event!". I had to :roflmao: a little. I'm like, "Hey, were are car guys here!".

phefner 02-08-2019 11:38 AM

As I continue my Auto Show journey this morning, came across this neat display of Vettes. Be super cool if Porsche did similar on the 911 heritage. They do have a streaming video which does this which is great because you can see the dimension difference between generations. One chap I chatted with has a 911 from the Air Cooled generation and his only comment gripe is the 911 is too big now.

Looking very nice. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by over the weekend :)
Is that GT Silver or Dolomite Silver?

Rennolazine 02-08-2019 11:48 AM

I believe dolomite silver with brown interior

YUP!

The color-board that Phefner posted was a cool touch, but, truth be told, that's right were the Garrett's Popcorn was, and I was completely distracted.:)

Rennolazine 02-08-2019 11:55 AM

There were colors above the popcorn?? Lol!!

phefner 02-08-2019 12:10 PM

OK so back to the Porsche area and another look. IMHO without looking at dimensions, it seems like there is a little more room in the frunk. And if your maybe 5'8", there is enough headroom in the back.

LOL I missed that. I think the display was being worked on and they were setting up for a recording.

Damn...I missed that. But I saw food being setup by Maserati.

Hopefully the video of this is posted on the Porsche website.

Been told #1 question being asked is will the GT4 have a big NA 6. #2 question is will there be a manual offered.

phefner 02-08-2019 01:05 PM

Well, even the Mustang GT 500 has gone away from it's classic shifter with the dial.

I still prefer a PDK style interface and whilst I don't typically use it to manually shift; it does serve as a contact point when normally driving.

Thank you for sharing all these pictures.

The Mustangs center console appears more narrow than the 992 and that's even with an actual transmission and driveshaft under there!

Benedict14 02-08-2019 04:50 PM

And it seems that the Porsche interior designer stole the knurled switches from the Mustang. Maybe if people repeatedly accuse them of ripping off a Ford, they’ll be so ashamed that they’ll unfuk the center console and switches ?
