I am looking to pick up another 2012 GTS right now with a hard to find factory installed aero kit. I guarantee you long term, the 997.2 will out value the 991.1 or 991.2.
BTW, I purchased an 89 930 Cab new and used it as a daily until I purchased a 91 965. Candidly, I think my next car after that may actually be my favorite 911 of all time . . . 94 3.6 T. I sold my second 94 in 2004 for $58,000. It was black with can can red interior and black deviating runs. Man o man I wish I had that one back!

993 and 991s are seen by most to be the best looking of the 911s......subjective but polls usually show this with 997 and first generation steps ahead of the 996 and 964.......
It seems the two main things bothering loyalists most are the rear end look/light treatment and the shifter.......
Definitely takes our mind off the escalating prices....

My biggest gripe is the weight gain.

I do like the looks of the 991.X Turbo better than the 997 Turbo, but I think the NA 997s look better than the base and S 991s.
I really like the looks of the 997.2 GTS with the factory tail. I want a black one to set back and sit on for a long while.
I do agree with the guy above about 991 Targa. I love the way those look as well and was thinking about picking up a 2016 GTS Targa, but I rather have the 2012 GTS aero kit.
One cannot go wrong with any of them!

I started the thread but I am not just brainlessly bashing the 992
I started with a 911 SC, I have had a 996C4S , a 993, 986, and two Macans. I like the 997 but I share the opinion of many that the 993 and 991 are the best looking. My gripes with the 992 are the gaping maw up front, the fat featureless expanse of an ***, fake tail pipes, idiotic looking third brake light, the interior, the nubbin, the fake gauges...the weight gain, the cost and the ever forward march away from a sports car to a grand tourer. And that interior shelf is an insult to the tasteful lowkey shelf on the dash of my 993. I dont have to see the 992 in person to dislike it. I was going to do a euro delivery in Leipzig in the fall for a trip to Berlin and Poland but not now. My first Macan was delivered in Zuffenhausen so Leipzig is just closer to the trip destinations.
i dont care for a 718, or a Panamera even though they are very nice vehicles. New Macan ? Nope, rear end looks like a Dodge Durango. Porsche will no longer get a new car sale out of me, And that really makes me sad. It makes me more sad as where Porsche is headed as a company, more lifestyle, less adrenaline or pure sportscar excellence.

Wouldn't work for me as I must have a stick, and at this stage in my life I only buy new and make it the way I want. But getting back on topic I agree with Doug H (I am that guy by the way) that there have been enough pics of the 992 around to tell I will not like it, not to mention the unveiling video at the LA Show. I saw a rendering of the 992 Targa and even though I am biased I cannot see how anyone could say it looks better than the 991.2 Targa; he rendering is probably 99% accurate.

It's always time for a Ferrari. My 458 street, not the challenge I have now, was perhaps my fav car ever including a CGT and a 2001 Lambo 6.0 (last of the real Lambos). The 488 is great, but I actually like the 458 better. I will go back to a Ferrari when the DB lease is up.
