I agree with bmcginn.

991 looks so outdated now.

New is alway good in cars and all other fields of mechanical engineering.

And with the styling of the convertibles, no real structural changes from 991, just the same.

991.x looks timeless now,....992 just looks odd and cheaper now.

Inspiration for the little sliver-like grill cover?

Somehow all of it conspires to make the rear look taller and more bulbous than the 991 cab, but hopefully the production version will be less awkward.

Pretty much this.

There hasn't been a Cab that looked good, regardless of generation. The 996 Cab was far worse, imo.

I also find it really amusing that every thread now is just "I hate 992 this, I hate 992 that".

Everyone is just basing their opinions about the base 992.1 on its first MY entry, and not even giving Porsche enough time to roll out the variants that matter, like the GTx variants.

Personally, I am waiting for the 992.2 GT3 and think it will be more flushed out and fantastic.

I assume that you fail to see the irony in making a blanket statement like that in a thread debating the merits of an actual design.

I know they have to change something when they roll out a new version but making changes just to make changes does not always mean the new version will be better, such as the 992. I was hoping it would grow on me since I really want to like it since it represents the brand but it has yet to happen.

May need to wait for the 992.2 edition to fix the horrors of the 992.1s.

Troll much? Keyword here is "so".

The 991 doesn't even look close to being outdated let alone "so outdated". Don't try as hard next time.

We went to dinner this evening and from our table I could see the butt on my Targa GTS and I remembered the above pic. I may be biased but mine looks WAAAAAY better than that!

It is almost cartoonish/ghoulish (sighs). It is borderline repulsive.

Not unlike the transition from C5 to C6 with the Corvette. The wide open maw in the front of the C6 never appealed to me.

Inspiration came from West Coast Custom's 356/987 resto mod.

Come on now, all you haters just look at the configurator and you will see that the bumb difference is minimal.
