Tough crowd.

Thanks! And…no worries about a tough crowd. I kinda feel the same way about threads without photos—just not as interesting. Trying to decide if my iPhone pics (for my own notes) are worth posting, or if I should gather up more sources. I suppose "yes" is the right answer, and have been editing the former to make them at least reasonably decent...and will look for some options on the latter from my real camera as well as press materials later.

You oughtta go back and read some road tests of the…356B. Or the 901, for that matter.

Respect your position, but have been testing every new 911 for 20+ years—and my experience has been that judging one before I drive it is foolish. Some have underwhelmed and some have exceeded expectations—in both cases of great and low expectations.

I share many of the reservations seen here in this forum, as I am not a "digital" car guy...but I'm going to reserve judgement until driving the thing. In the meantime, I'll share some things I've learned so far.

Yeah, never had problems loading photos on RL before today. Put some time into loading and captioning the first batch—twice—only to save changes and have zero show up. Twice. Will try once more, but wondering if I am trying to load too many in one post.

Yeah, did that on the third try. No joy. How bizarre. The tough crowd is gonna get tougher.

Of course, my browser still seems to think I am in Amsterdam, so I'll clear everything out tonight and try again…

Th point about reserving judgement until driving is well made.

In the meantime here is a pretty detailed "driven" report:

"I can't decide if the front bumper will keep me thinking "New Beetle" or soon connect the 992 with the impact-bumper 911s and make the "RSK hood treatment" and panel lines on the 997 and 991 look old and compromised. Time will tell."

Well said. The new front screams "Beetle" to me with that sort of nondescript, blank space, horizontal look. Porsche's always did well by really being the quintessential "big air dam" brand, especially to separate it from VW. As we see their EV models come out, we'll understand why they're making their gasser cars have these blank space horizontal fronts (ask me how I know.... actually, don't ). It's all about the bridge to EV land with no air dams at all.

Good to see they've tended to the sound. I'll have to hear it to see if it can at least somewhat pacify my distaste for the 9A2 soundtrack.

Sorry folks, have created a folder full of pics and docs, but even after resetting everything, am having issues uploading pics. Something new to me on RL after 11 years of posting pics here. Will try to figure when I can. The solution has to be easy, but not seeing it so far…

Best,

pete

In the meantime, how did the induction noise sound in the interior? Authentic or contrived? Better, same, or worse vs. 991.2?

Does the new blue look bright like in the indoor photos, or is it a dark blue like in the configurator?

As is always the trick with a 5-minute ride around a race track—vs. using a car for most of a day or, better still, a week—observations are gonna be limited. But...I think the induction sound is better than in the various 991.2s I have driven, my own included. Didn't seem contrived to me (in the way, say, a 981 GTS is, with all the snaps and same number of pops off throttle), but need more time with the car.

Most interestingly, the engineers admitted the cars with the filters on their exhaust have lost some of the music (we didn't have the windows down, as it was cold, and wet), but of course US cars won't have those particulate filters. You could see the envy on the engineers' faces.

Reminds me more of the old Aqua (which treaded that line to these eyes, where Saphire is on the lighter side), but definitely isn't Night or DBM. Nowhere near them.
