This is ridiculous.

I have never left a deposit this early for any car. I have gotten all of them. I also use a small dealer. Your buying history should be enough.

Spot on, I never understood the deposit thing ...........I’ve never done that. I’d suggest there’s no relationship with the dealer when this occurs?

No, someone said to deal with a different salesman and I said I was dealing with the Sales Manager.

The only relationship I have with the dealership is that I have now bought two used GT3's from them (both over MSRP) so they likely profited more from my used sales than the new sales. I have never bought a new car from them. They are actually 800 miles away from me so I would have no reason to use them otherwise, but they just happened to have the used GT3's with the color and specs that I wanted.

In my city, the dealer doesn't have a list and doesn't take deposits, only sells them to whoever they want (mostly the guys who have 918 Spyders or who have bought a ton of prior GT cars).

I'm on the list with a 1k refundable deposit. Was the same when I got my GT4 three years ago.

Oh I am sorry I totally misread what you typed. My bad,
$5k is a bit much considering .. They should just put you on their list and call you when it's time to put a deposit.. You have buying history, so you should be a preferred client.

I got an allocation within 3 days of requesting one. Put down 3% of purchase price before build locked. Got car at msrp.

I've heard anywhere from $500 - $5,000 and you are given the exact number you are on the list. Does not matter how long the list is.

Lastly, it should be a 100% refundable deposit, in case you change your mind.
Sorry, I was referring to the US market.

No, 991.2. Just mentioning that because people are having far different experiences it seems dealing with different dealers. My local dealership only gets a couple of GT3 allocations a year at best, but our market isn’t a hotbed of GT3 desire. So it happened to be relatively easy for me to get a configurable allocation, compared to those on lists at larger volume dealers.

Keep the faith my bruthas.

I spoke with one dealer and was advised it’s too early to take deposits on the 992 gt3.
