My LA Auto Show 992 Impressions - A Different View
#91
I went to the show today in LA.... gotta say the rear end worked a lot better for me in person and I came away really likiing the back. Same thing with the interior (I don't love it but it looks much higher quaility in person vs the pics). Also the new wheel options are pretty stunning in person.

Vantages can be leased for $1250 per month (+ tax), $5k due at signing, 36 months/5k miles per year. That kind of lease is better than any 911 lease will be if your over the low MRM, and the Aston is a rarer, more special car with really nice interior quality and the AMG reliability and sound. That deal is based on a 175k car...

Yes, I saw that advertised. It’s a car to be considered.

Went to the auto show today. In my opinion, this big hoopla is all about nothing. I wasn’t a fan based on the pictures - but in person this car is badass and it’s on my short list for what I’m picking up next after my 991.2 in about 2 years. The fake exhaust- can’t tell unless you’re laying on the ground. The nubbin- not so bad in person. The black console trim- seemed ok (not a huge fan still, but not the end of the world). The digital dash- looked fine. The big gulp holder- still sucks but looks like it comes out; I’m sure there will be a 3rd party plug to fill it. The brake light- looked fine in person. New side mirrors- meh. Overall, a very nice car... I wanty!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more than you think. Of the crowd that I know who have these cars, have multiple exotics and do not daily drive them. Put it this way, in some cases, the cars are leased through their businesses👍

What's gonna be super "fun" is all the debates going forward with 991.2'ers who once called the 991.1 S "slow" because it goes around the Ring a few seconds slower than the 991.2 S, having to internalize what that means for 991.2's which are now 5 seconds slower around said Ring than the 992.

Current 992 is an incomplete car. Exterior, Interior and Engine.
Over next 4 years, they will modify the car so much that it wont resemble anything it looks like now.
Just look at 991.1 vs .2
Not to mention all-electric 911, which I know you are all eagerly waiting.

I personally am looking forward to an all electric 911 as long as it embodies the spirit of the 911...a beautiful, classy, daily driver sports car that can show up at a track, a soccer game, and a wedding in the same day.
I think a lot of the 992 design ideas should have been kept for the all electric.

The crazy part is most purchasing Aston Martins (typical AMs are in the $250k to $350k range) and Rolls Royce typically do 2,500 miles per year leases and the costs/notes are still insanely high. The "other half" rolls in a way many working class dudes/dudettes don't understand and these cars are typically 4 or 5 down the depth chart.
The grey one below is only $159,000, not much more than a well spec'd 911 and certainly a much more exotic and bad *** looking.
