I'll go with the 993 C2 coupe, but it has to be lowered at least to ROW ride height. Yes, I am biased. I have one (that I still have not managed to lower, the excuse being that the suspension will be done when the motor comes out for a top end and reseal. It still has it original clutch and flywheel, so that too) and of course I bought it because I love nearly everything about it. I also love the early long hood cars, particularly the '72-'73 longer wheelbase versions with the 915 gearbox. I agree with Pete Stout that the earlier opening wing windows hurt the design, but they sure were functionally effective. As to the 991, it took me a few years to adjust to its size after the 997, which I also love. I don't even dislike the 964 bumpers enough to get in the way of liking the overall design. I gradually grew into toleration of the size of the 991 so that I could finally appreciate its design. Such an incredibly competent car that I felt the need to really push the everyday driving envelope whenever possible, simply to wake it up from its bored languor.

As to the new 992, I have only seen photos so far. In many ways, at least on the outside, it could be a 991.3. At first I was put off by the new dash and console, but that may become less of a visual jolt with time. It is interesting to note that the 991.2 GTS is slightly longer than the new 992S. Overall width with and without mirrors extended is identical to the wider body 991 models. The width at the front axles has to be greater in the 992, which should make some difference with respect to handling characteristics. Since the 992 has not really grown (at least in most measurements) from the 991, it will ultimately come down to how the new car feels to drive on the road, and the track if I still have sufficient cognitive skills two years from now. I won't be discomforted financially if I sell the 993 and the 986S to buy a 992 GTS; but not having a 993 until I'm either dead or seriously demented would inflict a big wound in my soul. Damned if I know how a Porsche can be a part of my soul, but there it is.

400 voters!!!
Any thought?

Interestingly the 993 has gotten more votes than 996 and 997 together

another point is that 992 and 964 got the same number of votes
and to me they look even similar too

I like the LWB 1969-1973 small bumper 911 over the 1965-1968 SWB small bumper. The original 2.0L aluminum engine was excellent, but the 2.4L was easier to drive in traffic.
