Don't hate me...I'm loving the 992 design

Two words; Larger, Heavier. Even larger and heavier than the generation (991.2) that preceded it. No thanks.
I couldn't give a toss about the looks of it, but larger and heavier is a non starter, regardless of performance. I'm open to giving 991.2 a try, as I'd really like a RWD turbo 911, otherwise I will end up adding another 911 in the future from the previous eras.

If they kept everything else the same on the 992, but had made it lighter and smaller than the 991, I'd be much more excited about the car.

And wider - 8" wider than a 997. I know there are those who like wide cars, by the 911 fan likes it slim. The front track is wider than the rear and that makes for a more planted car, and that is great, but makes it less 911. A 911 fan likes its 'defects'. Correcting the 911 'defects' to this extent, changes the car. But... it is a 'better' car no doubt; it always is.

Wrt appearance, for me, two minor points are the most troublesome: (1) the exhaust design with the fake tips and (2) the "molded facsimiles of hex-head screws" on the steering wheel. I like the way form follows function in the 997.2, i hope that these two minor points are not indicative of a trend in 911 design.

weird trade off's on the interior, new analog toggle switches with 90% digital dash?, and the PDK lever has been reduced to small men's shaver? staggered rim sizes 21 in back 20 in front?

I am reserving my judgement until I see it in person tomorrow at LA auto show. Also looking forward to having some tasty snacks at the owner's lounge.
My wife, who doesn't care about anything car related, upon seeing the new 992 on TV, proclaimed that it looks just like the neighbor's beetle. I kind of agree.

I don't hate you, I love it too! I think the design is modern and crisp, and adheres closely to the genealogy. The interior is almost too lovely for a sports car. I can't wait to see one with a MT.

Great points above. The stance is pretty impressive as it's lower; those 20/21 inch wheels also look fantastic. I like that the wing had two different lengths of extension depending on speed. The Porsche 992 promo video shows the quad sports exhaust which looks much better than the GT2 RS style pipes IMO. From what I've seen, having to change driving modes via the dashboard (if you don't have sports chrono) seems a little crazy, oh and the price, 4s starts @ $120k!
