Default Porsche 992 thoughts

I know there are plenty of other threads talking about spy shots and speculation, but now that the 992 is revealed, what are your thoughts on the actual car?

https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-sho...s-specs-price/

Personally, it's on the same chassis and platform, has the same wheel base, same engines with tweaked output, and has very modest visual changes. The dash is new, but underneath, it's the same car with an $8000 price increase. I am calling it the 991.3. I'm not currently dying to upgrade from the 991.2. (Although the fact that it can now easily handle a big gulp does have an appeal for me.) All in all, I call it a disappointment. I expected more from the 991.3, er...I mean 992.

Porsche 991.3?

Exterior looks great but can't see enough of the interior to tell. Not impressed with some interior pics I'd seen elsewhere.

The nimble/fun 911 that purists knew and loved was dying with 991.1, 991.2 and is now officially dead with 992. Just because a 992 has a MT/stick option does not mean it is a 911 at heart. A lexus that looks like 911 is no 911. Buy a cayman, M2, 997 anything but this crap..

Thank you...and yeah, I'd have to agree just based on the new dash and the look from the rear with the wing up.
Looking forward more than ever now to my '19 TS.

Finally they updated the gear selector! I'll be down for the 992 TT/S as soon as possible (probably 2021 here).

I feel the same way. Just not that inspiring. And I don't like the rear of the car. Hopefully the 991.3 TTS will arouse our spirits better.

I like it ... will enjoy having an actual cup holder in my 911 TTS when I eventually pick one up. I know, shame on me. I will keep my Spyder for my actual nimble Porsche. Not sure why the 991.3 comments are coming up... the interior is completely new, the styling has been modified slightly on the exterior and the engine has been improved. That seems par for the course for Porsche when switching generations.

I don't know, I guess I was expecting/hoping for a whole new car, not just another refresh. Word is that the next gen after this actually gets a new chassis platform, shared with the 718/Huracan/R8 in about 7 years from now. I will hold judgement until I see the 991.3 TTS, but this is not any big improvement over the 991.2 for me at all. I mean, if my current car were stolen, sure...I'd get a 992 TTS. Otherwise, nah, I'm good.

I agree on the cup holder, but the interior is not all new, just the dash and console. The seats remain unchanged. The exterior has a new front bumper, creases in the hood, new door handles, and a new (ugly) rear bumper/spoiler, but the rest of the car is identical in appearance. They bump up the ECU tune by 25hp, which is nice, but it's the identical engine still. The changes from 993 to 996 and 997 to 991 were completely new cars. This isn't that. So yeah, it's a 991.3.

(I'd say that this 991.3 is even less updated from the 991.2 than the 997.1 was from the 996...which was fairly minimal, but it totally transformed that car)

I quite like the look of the 992 inside and out my only dislike is the high mount stop light under the rear window ............hopefully and aftermarket part like a new rear grill becomes available to delete and cover this up ...

Make no mistake, I do like the look of this car very much, just like I like the look of all of the 991's other versions before it. It's a nice refresh, but not a new car. I think that's the point I'm trying to make.

(and yeah, that particular view of the rear brake light is hideous. Who thought that was a good idea?)

I don't like the rear at all, reminds me of any number of newer compact cars with that wrap around light, very average look to me, not exotic or one that would inspire high value

Otherwise, except for the dash, it's the same car.

Yes, the dash is in keeping with the modern tech gadgetry, but it's a sports car, not highway cruiser

Overall, I'm not impressed.

Is 992 not a brand new platform starting from scratch in no way similar to 991 underneath? I like it
