GT car thoughts with ugly/portly 992 release
#31
I think we all have opinions and rightfully so we’re the consumer. My personal car shopping experience across all brands when when I purchased a car, and I said it had to grow on me I hated it and sold it. I’ve had 5 991’s including my RS on the boat and I love everything about each of them. Time will tell, and will wait for my true opinion when the GT cars are out, and for now it’s a 2 door Panamera.

You guys are so predictable!
Most of you will own a 992 variant: you'll admit you came around to it just like you came around to 9A1 engine, RWS, PDK, EPAS, longer wheelbase, etc. on 991.
And then you'll bemoan the forthcoming 994 or whatever it's called because THAT transition will represent the sea change that ruined the 911 just like: the end of the long hood, the end of the 915, the end of torsion bars, the end of the pontoon fenders, the end of air cooling, the end of natural aspiration in the entry-level cars...

Had WW’s hedge fund scheme not blown up and Porsche ended up in the VW group the 992 would not be the car before us today. The 992 is the corporate 911 in both its exterior and interior design with the intent to integrate “product” across platforms the overarching priority.

It’s true we often come around to a new model, however I’m really turned off by the tiny electric shaver, 55Kg weight gain, weird interior that won’t look sporty on a GT car, and that Tron light in the back which has also been seen on 992 GT3 mules.
I love my new 991.2 GT3 and don’t plan to get a 992 GT3.
I will consider a new GT3 with the next all new model GT3 in 8.5-9 years if it’s still NA, and they’ve dropped a lot more weight.
I’m really wondering how the new 992.1 GT3 will outperform the 991.2 GT3 if the 911 weighs truly 55 kg more than the previous model, which is 120lbs!

German forum seems to think particulate filter removal plus manual nets the weight gain back in whole!

I'm going to start a petition for upstanding, honorable forum members who PROMISE not to buy ANY Porsche 992 product offering.
That way it will be easier for the rest of us to buy them.
Who's the first signatory?

I like it a lot too. Exterior looks like a great blend of new tech and classic Porsche styling. The interior reminds me a little of the new Ford GT just with much nicer materials. Cant wait to see more!

I think it looks better than I thought.... with the right colors (happy that a dark green is back) and a carbon fiber roof (option from the start) as well as the right interior looks good..... will be all good once they go racing and the GT versions will come... (till then enjoying my GT cars...) ... one thing I cannot get my head around is the cup holder / ashtray - that will have to go....

The real question though is...how does it DRIVE? Mark Weber had good things to say (but he's a paid pitchman), time will tell.
