Default Timing for 992 GT3/RS?

Need some advice on when to start the process to secure an MSRP allocation for the 992 GT3 or RS. Earlier this year I bought a 991.2 GT3 MT/Bucket/Steel/Miami Blue and starting to think towards the future given how slow/hard it can be to get MSRP allocations. This is my third p-car but first GT and all three are from different dealers.

So.. some questions.

- Timing for the 992 GT3 - I hear it's a 2020 car but when should I get on the "list" and what should I put down as deposit this far out?
- Timing for the 992 GT3 RS - I'm guesting that is 2022 but, is there better information to be had on estimates?

This could all be too early in the process but open to get other peoples feedback on dates and timing.

I don't think being on the list means anything these days. A lot of dealerships are turning to the dark side and don't bother with the list anyways. That's the vibe I got.

3 Dealers and no loyalty? Don't know. Get one, drive it, bring it back for trade on new one. All to same dealer. What is ADM? Not always what you think.

So far loyalty hasn't returned any ROI. I did go back to dealer #1 when I bought car #2 and they refused to budge but l, dealer #2 didn't flinch and beat the price, dealer #1 refused to counter so I went with #2 and then #1 pouted when they lost the sale.

Dealer #2 couldn't get me a GT3 and neither could dealer #1 (yes I asked them and they gave me some b/s about how hard it was to get GT cars). So I found dealer #3 and bought a GT3 from them.

I'll go back to dealer #1, 2 and 3 again. Dealer #1 had the chance to win over $350K of business in 2 years as I gave them first bid each time.

So not being loyal has saved me about as much as the potential ADM on car #4, so at worst I break even at best I'm ahead by a long shot. The goal of course is MSRP and I will ask all three dealers again.

If you are not on the list already for 992, u are behind the 8 ball already
loyalty sometimes pays off sometimes do not
and loyalty often mean a lot more than 3 cars especially in the Bay Area.

Does anybody think the gt3 upgrade from 991.2 to 992, similarly to the base versions, just won’t be that significant?

It will most likely and thankfully be the same 4 liter engine likely with a modest horsepower bump and similar weight. I would think any drastic changes like engine placemement or significant weight reduction would bring cost into the next stratosphere so unlikely. The chasis, brakes, and both transmissions are so so good already I don’t see a significant improvement in driving experience from changing any of those components either at least to those of us who are mere mortals and don’t approach 9 or 10 tenths on a regular basis.

I have the same car build as the OP and for once I think I am satiated with what I have and may not try to keep playing the allocation game, especially since there will most likely be another price increase of 15-20 grand or so.

^ every iteration of GT3/RS had been pretty major. some may not agree, it is what it is.

Don't overthink this.

Easier to start planning on winning Powerball. Then you can just buy a Porsche dealer and have your pick of GT3/RS allocations.

Lol, the odds of getting a GT2RS allocation are probably higher than PowerBall. As they say you have to be in it to win it.

Who even cares about a 992 if you have a 991. No one knows what will happen in a couple years. Economy, Health, Turbo ect ect.

Enjoy your car until you are sick of it and then move on

Why even bother with 992.1. I'd rather just keep 991.2 and wait for 992.2.

Like Mooty said, folks have been lining up (i.e. deposit) for 992 GT3 and GT3-RS for a long time now (couple years or more) so it may be a lost cause in the Bay Area.
Sad but that's what it is these days.

I think it depends on the dealership; I was on a list for the 991.2 GT3 at my local dealership (Porsche Marin) 2 years ago and I got it at MSRP

There are some exceptions but most prioritize their allocations based on how strong of a customer you've been over the years ahead of any first-come-first-serve list.
