992 - Nerd features
Do you think, any of the following features currently available for Panamera / Cayenne will be available for the 992?
- Park Assistant incl. Surround View (if you can't park)
- Massage function for seats (unnecessary weight)
- Porsche InnoDrive (toy...drive a Tesla)
- Head-up Display (only for nerds)

The only one I would care to take a look at is the Heads-Up display if done well.
I have a version of park assistant on another car and most of the the time it is just extremely annoying,.....but for some people it might be great and serve a valid purpose.

Porsche in-car tech is so far behind the times, it's laughable. I am driving a brand new Macan S loaner and the rear view camera is WORSE than my $25k GTI. By a lot. The Panamera loaners I have had are borderline unusable, and I'm not joking. So much distortion. I am not all that impressed with the new infotainment system in the Panamera / Cayenne at all. It has a ton of screen real estate and is poorly used.

surround view cameras are almost a must have for me at this point.... in a city like LA where you are constantly parking in tight spots its a game changer.

Porsche is laughable when it comes to nerd tech. Auto parking, Android auto, wireless phone charging, collision mitigation braking, Head-up display. You name it.

Do you think we’ll still have to pay extra for keyless entry that’s standard on just about every other car on the planet?

Sometimes it's hard to see in a 911, which exists in a base price between normal sports cars (Corvettes) and supercars and therefore is at times hard to do a direct comparison on. You sense that the included standard features are very light, and that the options are many and pricey. But start looking at the pricing of a Cayenne, Macan or Panamera and the poor pricing gets exposed VERY fast.
When I bought my Cayenne, it was about $20k more than a similarly equipped VW Touraeg TDI Lux. When I say similarly equipped, I mean as close to apples to apples as I could make it. But some of my pricing included things not available in the VW, like full leather dash, vented seats, 20" wheels, etc. So you're looking at $15k "Porsche Tax". At the time, the Porsche was a much more sporty vehicle than the Touareg. We knew we could have saved and gotten 85% of the experience, but we splurged.
A BMW X3 M40i LOADED is about $65k. I think it's possible to get it a bit higher with some accessories. To match it's power requires a Macan GTS and to match it's equipment is, wait for it, $87k.
Pricing a nicely loaded up Q7 with HUD, Air suspension, etc, is high $70k range. A similarly equipped new X5 is also in the upper $70k range. A base Cayenne, with fewer options, is in the low $90's. Similarly equipped it's also in the upper $90's.
For a BASE CAYENNE.
Do the same with a Panamera and you'll find a decently equipped base Panamera 4 is around $105k. Not loaded. Decent. You can get a very nicely equipped M5 for $115k.
The rub is that the Porsches should be the better driving experience. However, they really aren't anymore. The Q7 and Cayenne are on the same platform, and don't drive all that different, to be honest, if you account for the larger size of the Q7. I've not driven the new X5 yet, but did drive the X3 M40i and I'd wager it's a better driver's car than the Macan GTS. Honestly.
Sorry for rant. Carry on. 992. Nice car. LOL.
